UPDATE

With Gustav, I had a chence to test the generator. We returned from evacuation, and the number 1 priority was to "get the house cool" as per the Mrs. The unit ran 2 a/c units, refrigerator, freezer, lights, phones, satellite TV, computer, modem, and most of the time the power output was 40-60%. This is misleading, since the output is based on frequency, not wattage. The fuel useage averaged a bit more than 1/2 gallon per hour, around 5-6 gals for 9 hrs. The bad news - It leaked oil badly and stained my driveway. I didn't have to worry about changing it, it drained itself. Had to keep a close eye... read full review »

Hurricane Preparedness

In search of a strong generator to prepare for hurricane season within the tax-free price range that would not be underpowered when needed for the household Shopped around and this was the best value and included an electric start - an important feature to help the less strong in the household as well as gas can and rebate. Haven't had a chance to test it for the reliability and performance yet.

Great generator

I bought this generator during a very bad ice storm this winter. We were out of power for 8 days with temps in the teens and 20's. If it wouldn't have been for this generator running 24 hours a day for 7 days we would have been in real grave trouble. It assembled quickly, filled the fluids, checked it over according to the easy to read start up instructions (I hate instructions) and it fired right off. I didn't shut it off except to change the oil at the time when the Statstation let me know it was time. I really like this unit and can't say enough good about it. This summer I am going to get a... read full review »

A Fantastic Item!

We purchased this generator to use at a remote ranch we own in eastern Arizona. We have no other source for electricity and use this generator exclusively when we visit the ranch. Purchased in July, we followed all break-in instructions and have followed all the maintenance prompts (which is a big help to us to make sure all the proper maintenance is done) explicitly. We also purchased the 5-year maintenance program. This unit very seldom exceeds 20% load except on start up. I run a TV, refrigerator, 10-in Craftsman Table Saw, 10-in Craftsman miter saw and never have had a problem.

Excellent!

Easy to follow setup and operational instructions. Electric and manual pull start are a breeze. Very happy with our purchase!

STARTED IMMEDIATELY !!!

Just wanted to say that I was very pleasantly surprised to find that this unit started up IMMEDIATELY !! I have'nt hooked it up to the transfer panel yet (expecting that to be connected next week), but I will update my review once I have the ability to test it further.

good power, good product

this generator is great. i have used it up to 90% of its capacity and it ran great and noise level was'nt that bad. it also ran for a good length of time on a full tank. the monitor system is a nice feature to let you know when to check or change the oil or air filter. the electric start makes it very easy to start up and if that fails you also have the pull start as a back up. easy to maintain and operate. handles and wheels make it easy to move knowing that it weighs close to 200 pounds. i use it to run high wattage equipment and it handles them with ease. this generator is perfect to have in... read full review »

Worth every penny

I bought this model over a year ago, Having worked with my uncle who is a master electrician I was able to install a transfer switch in less than an hour. During the middle of the winter I was out when a storm came through and knocked out all the power in the neighborhood. I arrived home to find it getting chilly in the house. I went outside, started it up, plugged the cord in and switched over the house. It ran a freezer, koi pond pump, many compact flouresent lights, my oil burner , fridge, LED christmas lights and I ran a cord to my neighbors house for thier fridge, They had heat with the fireplace.... read full review »

Great Generator

I bought this unit at the beginning of Hurricane season this year. I installed a transfer swith as well. I've not had to use it for its purpose yet and it will be wonderful if I never do. I ran the unit for the prescribed break in time the day I received it. I didn't want to have to do that in an emergency. I have been running weekly as required. Yesterday I hooked it up to the house and tried what I would think is worst case scenario. I ran at one time the following - 2 freezers, Side by side refrigerator and freezer, 3 TV's, 2 cable boxes, 3 ceiling fans, 16 lights (1/2 were low wattage... read full review »
