Just bought an LTS 1500 with a bagger and got a free bumper that won't fit. Calls for mounting holes that don't exist. Even with parts in bags "a" and "b", nothing works. My 94 year old father drove out in the street with his mower and didn't see the car coming around the corner. If he hadn't had a bumper on his mower his entire front end would be gone. Fortunately for him, the bumper did it's job and protected the frame of the mower. It was bent up and pushed back into the tire, but replacing it was a lot cheaper than replacing the mower. As for the car, it was bent in from the front panel all the way to the rear panel! More importantly, no one was injured!!!
Got it home and put it on in less than 30 minutes. Really dresses up the lawn mower. It's already came to good use. I would have had hood damage otherwise.
bought this bumper on sale for $29.99...directions called for either single suspension or dual and muffler shields...all different looks than my LT1000. But I had it mounted in about 15 minutes..used the middle hole and everything fits good, hood raises and stays up by itself. The washers for the single back bolt need to be bigger I think.
Satisfied with the look
This bumper is a must have for the LTS 1500 (or the other similar brand models) to prevent front end damage. Best of all it only took 10 minutes to install. If you have an LTS 1500 disregard the instructions, get the two self tapping bolts out of Bag B, lay the bumper on the box (after installing the caps) to help position it for you and you'll see the two upper bolts that have to be removed. Remove those bolts, slide the bumper in, reinstall those bolts and install the new self tapping bolts in the lower positions. I set mine on the second hole but you can use the third hole to have the bumper...

Really, the tractor should come with one of these, but since it doesn't, this is a good add-on to protect your investment, Believe it or not, it is possible to drive into something and the plastic hood would be kaput in that case. This little bumper (on sale) was a good buy and pretty easy to install. Seems solid, too!
My 70+ dear old dad bought a new LTS 1500 and he likes to get real close to stuff so I bought him this bumper for fathers day and installed it in about 10 minutes and I'm sure it has saved the grill of the new tractor many times already.
Not a great fit. I like the look of it, and it was easy to install, but after installation, the hood will not open fully. Now to service anything under the hood, you have to use a broomstick to prop open the hood. Put another way, the bumper when installed does not allow the proper clearance for the hood to open up completely.
In my opinion, based on my YS 4500 Craftsman Model 917.276620, this bumper does not fit properly, and needs to be redesigned for a better fit. Otherwise it's a good accessory to have and protects your mower in case you accidentally slam into a tree or fence, which happens...

I just installed this bumper on my DGS6500 Garden Tractor. Installation took an average amount of time and effort. The hood doesn't touch the bumper when open.
It hasn't been "field tested" yet but, for minor to average bumps and oops,' this should hold up well. It also adds a more professional look to the tractor.
For the price, I would recommend it to anyone doing average yard/garden work.
We just bought our craftsman LT2000 model # 28803 a few weeks ago. We also bought the 2 bin bagger along with it so our bumper was free. easy to put on after studying the directions. ended up having to use the 2 self tapping bolts and lock washers that came with the kit. bumper is real sturdy and hood opens just fine. used the middle hole on the bumper and it looks good too. so far have not hit anything yet and hope I don't. like the tractor too does a nice job on the lawn.
This is an awesome product and a must have. If installed correctly the hood opens all the way
i was looking on line for thing i can get for my 638 rl lawn mower and i saw this bumper ....read the review and went out and got it since it was on 30 buck and put it on no longer then 15 minutes and to try it out i ran it into a little tree i have it my back yard this thing did soo good it took the tree down so yes i would tell people to go get one because it look good works good and it CHEAP!!!
I bought this bumper for my DGS 6500 garden tractor last year, just got around to putting it on. I didn't have to remove the hood or plates that the instructions tell you too. It was a little tricky getting the bolts into the pre-drilled holes, but I did it, and never removed any parts off my tractor
I just purchased a 1996 Craftsman Lawn Tractor in need of repair. The first add-on I purchased was this front bumper. The hood has marks from past encounters already...no need to be looking for a hood.
Purchased bumper on sale for $29.99, excellent buy and very easy to install on my older tractor...about 20 minutes. I needed help with spreading the mounting brackets, but other than that it was a simple bolt-on. The instructions are easy to follow, just read them!
