I got this drill as part of a combo pack with other C3 series power tools. This drill for me was huge upgrade from previous 7.2v B&D I owned. The B&D still runs - it just feels/handles like a toy. I had another B&D drill 14.4v Firestorm that the battery and charger both went. I like the cheap prices (when on sale) of the C3 ni-cad batteries($20).The issue I see with this drill is the chuck. On my first real project with this drill I had the chuck slip twice and I had to dig the bit from the piece of wood (2x4). I really like the value of the C3 kit so, I replaced the chuck with a Jacobs 500 Series 1/2" 20 thread chuck ($25). I had seen previous posts that stated they had issues replacing the chuck. I had no issues at all so, maybe I was lucky. Now this drill has a solid locking chuck and I see no reason to not continue to use it for years to come. I do keep a corded drill (DeWalt) for tougher projects. I did start to use this drill to install (3) dead bolts in some metal doors at the house. I used it for one door and it did handle the hole saw ok. I did find myself tear up the metal around the cut more. I used the corded drill for the next 2 doors and it was an huge improvement - much smoother cut. This drill does have plenty of power which I like for most tasks.
