I got this drill a number of years ago. I have used it and abused it almost daily since then. It was MILES ahead of the cordless drill it replaced. It's such an excellent and reliable tool I've never had the need or desire to compare it to some of the more recent 18 / 24 volt competitors so I can't offer a good comparison.
What I can tell you is that this is one solid and very reliable tool. Whether it's screwing in dry wall, drilling through plate steel, drilling holes through joists to run electrical wiring, cutting holes with a hole saw, this drill just works and works and works. The battery life of the 19.2 volt batteries is excellent too. I've put up drywall in an entire apartment on a single battery.
It's a great all around drill and by far the most used tool in my garage. If you're looking for a good drill that you can rely on, get this one. If you're worried about reliability... don't. You'll break before this does. Mine has been dropped, kicked down stairs, etc many times and it just keeps on going.
Good luck!
