I have had Craftsman tools for as long as I can remember. They are by far better than the cheap ones you can buy anywhere else. The warranty is great also. If one of my tools happens to break all I have to do is take it back to a Sears store and they will replace it, free of charge. These are usually a little more expensive that other tools but they are made in the USA and I like to support the people working in my own country.
I work on my cars for a lot of things more than just changing oil, but I am not a professional mechanic. I bought this 260 piece set a couple years ago when it was still in the plastic case with four (4) drawers because I needed tools, badly.
This set turned out to be great because it included a good set of metric sockets, which is what I use 95% of the time. There are a few missing metric sockets, which I wish it came with, but for a small price afterwards, it's really no problem.
I could have done without the little ignition wrenches. Instead, they should have included screwdrivers. ...
read full review »I bought this set as an early Father's Day gift for my husband, he uses only Craftsman Tools, "anything else is junk" he says. We got the set so that he could install the new engine in our vehicle & the set pretty much covers about every tool he will need for that with just a few exceptions. We only had a small issue when we bought the set, it was missing 2 wrenches, but when I called the Customer Service line they were very polite & told me they would send them right away, no questions asked. Later that night when my husband went to use the quick release long ratchet, it was missing the...
read full review »This really is a great, comprehensive tool set!! I am very happy with it and it has 99% of the most basic and even a few non-basic mechanic's tools needed for most jobs. The 1/4" drive selections really stand out to me as these are things I use a lot of with some of the smaller stuff I work on. Only thing it lacks is a good set of actual screwdrivers. It does have some bits, but there are times when a real screwdriver is needed. I am BEYOND satisfied!!! Also, I would prefer if there was a way to lock it, lid and drawers. The drawers can be accessed without opening the lid, however I really like...
read full review »Just got my Craftsman 260 piece Mechanics Tool set....one feature I really like is is has metric and regular sockets..so any size i need is readily at hand and makes getting my projects done quickly without having the hassle of sizes I need not being available...the tools contained within are US of A forged steel Craftsman tools....the best tools in America and a great Sears Roebuck tradition...I would recommend this set to anyone who would like a really nice tool set for a price that cant be beat....Want good quality for super value....Shop Sears!
DO NOT BUY THIS TOOL SET.The tools are great but the box they come is a joke! The drawers fall out while carring it or riding in a truck, spilling the tools every where. The worst is when the box its self falls apart, ejecting the tools around the room. It takes about an hour to put all the sockets back in place after the box comes apart. My box fell apart while boarding my boat, some tool landed on the dock, some in the boat but most are in the bottom of the bay. Sears does not warrant the box and would do nothing about my lost tools. "Guarantied for life" does not mean @$%# when your tools...

has a large variety of tools for a good price!!
This is a great little tool set. It has a wide wariety of general tools that can do many jobs. If you are looking for something to completely rebuild a car, you are going to need a much larger set. If you are looking for something you can do just about any small to medium repair with this is a great set. The box it comes is a pretty cheap but it works if you treat it right.
Great tool set, I bought it to work on my car and bikes in my garage and this was a good deal i got it for $195 on sale. Its craftsman so you really can go wrong and if anything ever breaks just get it replaced for free
Other than Sears clipping me for $20.00 extra.....It was advertised at 179.00 and I somehow ended up paying 199.00. Still can't figure that out. The other reviews are all accurate. A great set of tools at a great price. The plastic box is pretty cheap and won't stand up to very much abuse.....but the socket storage trays are awesome. I was going to put all of these tools in another tool box,but the trays keep them organized so well that i will just use the cheapo plastic box. I don't need to move them around....so it will be ok for me. If you don't have many socket sets or complete ones....buy...
read full review »The Craftsman 260 pc. Mechanics Tool Set is a very good product. The carrying case is sturdy and strong. The pro's greatly outweigh the con's. The drawers aren't easy to open. Opening the bottom drawer pulls the second drawer open. Also, make sure you have every tool that's supposed to come with it. The only thing I was missing is a 8mm nut driver. Other than that I'm very pleased with this tool set.
Great set to build from for most DIYers! I came into contact with this set when I participated in a Motorcycle Technician Class where it was required for the course. The quality of the USA made tools was very good. All pieces were included as advertised & no defects or blemishes were found. The organization of the tools into their different tray slots (i.e. 6,8,12 point, inch, metric, extensions, adaptors, etc.) was very helpful. This was great for tool accountability/ loss prevention & ease/ speed in finding the correct tool for the task. I have utilized this set for approx. 21...
