I wish somebody would have told me about this tool sooner. Before I purchased it I usually spent more time fighting the clamp off then I did replacing the water pump or thermostat. For anyone who works on cars this is one of those must have tools that will save you time, money, and likely a lot of blood from pliers slipping off and beating your knuckles up.
This thing makes a somewhat frustrating job both quick and easy. I've had this for several months now and use it 3-4 times a day and it's locking mechanism works as well as it did the day I bought it, which is nice so your hands are free to push the clamp back and away from the hose end. It also doesn't destroy the clamps like alot of our methods of removal do, such as a pair of pliers etc. I highly recommend this hose clamp to anyone no matter mechanic or DYI.
Lordy, Lordy this tool is my saving grace...getting those spring clamps off foreign car hoses can be a challenge. This Hose Clamp provided just the right technique I needed to remove heater core hoses from my most recent project. Simple to use and gets into tight spots. Overall, great tool so far and planning to allow my family and friends to use it to save a ton-o-time and to reduce number of curse words it takes to remove those clamps with pliers or vise grips...Amen!!!
Getting the first two hose clamps off without these pliers took longer than getting these pliers and using them to remove the other 10 (no joke, 12 total hose clamps on my car). Hands down and excellent tool. Made in France but still an outstanding tool.
I can't say good enough things about it. I don't know how I got along without it. This tool should have been in my tool box the day it went on the market. If you're a mechanic like me, it is a MUST HAVE tool. No IFS, ANDS, or BUTS about it.
i have been using a lot of different tools to remove the hose clamps..so far this is the best i can find, it has a locking mechanism which will safely hold the clamps in place..especially at the tight spaces that u cant feed a plier in...
Removing spring hose clamps is a real pain. The pliers or vise grips slip off, the clamp doesn't open evenly, and you have to fish a big tool into some tight spaces.
With this tool, place the end over the hose clamp, squeeze the pliers (out in the open where there is room), the pliers lock and keep pressure on the hose clamp. All that's left is to pull on the cable, or pull gently with your fingers and the hose clamp slides off very nicely.
If you've ever sworn at a spring loaded hose clamp, BUY THIS TOOL.
I layed under my car for an hour trying to get those clamps off, when I decided to find a tool that could do it. I found these pliers on a Friday night, called Sears and bought the last ones. These are a real life saver. Awesome!
I have had the craftsman cable operated hose clamp pliers for a few months now and I am happy I got them. I have used them twelve times on four different cars and each instance Ive saved time / bloody knuckles and stress.
Can you remove hose clamps without them? Sure you can, but its a lot more difficult / time consuming to.
I especially like the locking device they have so you can lock the pliers, keeping the hose clamp open, which allows you to use both hands to work the hose off the nipple. Using regular pliers you need to have one hand on the pliers and only have one hand the remove the...
read full review »Every man that has a European car with spring hose clamps must have these clamps. This extends your reach into tight places. Where you could not reach and squeeze at the same time, now you can manipulate the clamp easwily. This is a must have. It will save you more than $40.00 in frustration on your first use.
It was a dream on how easy it was to remove the clamps. The tool performed so well that my blood pressure stayed in the safe zone while working on my dad's Astro Van.
I can't believe that I waited so long to buy this. Worth every penny and then some.
When my upper radiator hose on my 2001 lincoln ls had to be replaced, I thought it would be simple to replace it. I didn't think about those spring clamps being put in places my hand could barely fit. Trying to fit a pair pliers in those locations was even more stressful. The most stressful part of doing something as simple as putting the upper radiators hose on was spending hours trying to get some of these clamps off.
I decided to go online and see if there was something that can be done to make this a lot quicker. After I reading the great reviews about these cable pliers I went...
