I sharpened my mower blades amd my axe. This tool is more like a powered whetstone than a grinder. You need to remove large nicks with a regular grinder and then use this sharpener to hone a fine edge. It is a little messy to use because the water will fly off the wheel if it is set too high. I recommend this product.... It does fabulous on smaller utensils like knives, scissors, chisels and other tools. I was somewhat mislead by the product name and the picture description. If it can sharpen pruning shears then it should be able to sharpen mower blades but I found this not to be true....
