excellent, but short lived

I've been using these things for years. They really are the best choice if you are a perfectionist and want just the right angle of cut or if you need to trim places a string trimmer would only damage (next to siding for example). Great for board-on-board fences, as you can get in between where string... read full review »

Most Helpful Critical Review

I've had the tool for several years and it works great. Expect the batteries to die eventually. The charger is nothing more than a power supply that will not optimally charge NiMH batteries. I ended up replacing the battery pack with one used in model airplanes and a real processor controlled battery...

I understand that this model is no longer available though I'm sure Sears parts are. The batteries were initially a weak link. After a short time of charge-recharge, they held less and less "run time". Seems latest parts batteries are better and that has mostly been solved. The blades don't cut very well; only very new, very thinrass. Thicker grass is ripped or missed; more of a crushing and not a cutting. Still have my unit and it still runs but, blades are expensive from parts so might give up all together.

Best Cordless Shears on the market

With the exception of the battery life, these are the best cordless shears I have had. I use both grass and hedge shear attachments and they are easy to interchange. They are lightweight and easy to use. If you do a lot of gardening, I would recommend them. I have not had any problem with it staying charged for the time it takes to do all my trimming in a day. The only drawback, as others have noted, is the battery life. This is my second one...my first one lasted 2 1/2 seasons, and for the cost, it is not worth replacing the battery. But what are you going to do??? I believe the technology is... read full review »

Great yard tool

This product is by far the best clipper I have ever used. It has the power to keep going when any of my previous clippers would have stopped. The shrub cutter is also very useful for small jobs and I particularly liked the easy way the cutting heads can be changed. No intricate procedure. I haven't had mine long enough to experience any battery problems like some buyers have reported. We went to my daughter's and started trimming on her shrubs. It ran for at least 30 minutes before it ran out of power. When I saw it in the store I thought it was overpriced, but went ahead and purchased it anyway... read full review »

A Must Have Garden Tool

This is by far the best garden tool I've purchased in a long time. Using the combo clipper has greatly eased the wear and tear on my slightly arthritic thumb, and for that alone it's a great buy. But I have actually used both the clipper and the shear attachment at different times on all of my many different hedges and shrubs. For the first time, I'm able to keep shrubs all looking their best, almost ALL the time, so they never look disreputable. It's also great for clipping down dead perennial stalks in spring! While edge-trimming the lawn without the extension - which I haven't yet bought - is... read full review »

Good Performance - Pathetic Reliability

I purchased this unit in the summer of 2005. I was impressed with its great performance and great features. This summer however, after an estimated 25 total recharges on the battery, the blades barely move after a full charge. The tool is available for $39.99 - a new battery is $29 plus $9 in shipping charges. I guess that's a no-brainer. My recommendation - for an extra $6 you can buy the extended warranty - under normal use, this tool will not make it the full 2 years, so just take it in at the 23.5 month mark and get a new one.

Good Buy

I bought this product over the week end as soon as I got home I charged it and used it the next day. I found it easy to use and it seems to have the power I require for my use. It clip's my new sod lawn very well with out chewing it up. I have read the current reviews and took some of the advice about the battery. I took out the warranty policy so I am covered for 2 years.

Liked it better when it worked!

All around this was a great tool to have for my yard. My complaint lies with the battery. I never used the shrub clipper attachment. I used the shears around trees, bushes, flowers and along the rock garden, btw I live in Nebraska, just a few months of summer, not a whole lot of usage time. This would have been the third summer.....finally needed to use it, got it off the charger, NOTHING. Not even a warning light or beep...just dead. More than likely I'll end up buying a new one...compared to what the battery cost. Anyone need a shear or shrub clipper attachment??

Almost perfect

We have found it lacks a little power but if you are patient it will get the job done.

Great little yard tool

The price is right, it clips like a champ, easy to use, holds a charge pretty well, I couldn't have asked for more in this little machine. It's great for areas where you can't have a string trimmer whipping around damaging things. I pretty much use this little clipper all the time now.

Wonderful Tool

We are on our second one. The reason is the dog knocked the first on onto the floor and the case was broken. Worked for awhile with duct tape but finally gave up. The new one is just as good as our first. Trims everything from fine grass to substantial shrubs.

Best Clipper on the market

After going thru several B&D clippers (Threw the last pair in the trash) and reading the reviews here, I sprung for the Craftsman clippers. These are undoubtely the best I have ever owned !! My only complaint is the instructions state that the clippers must be fully seated ("No Gap") in the charger. Mine don't fully seat (1/8" Gap) but they seem to fully charge. Only had them one week, but good so far. After reading several posts concerning the battery, I was going to get the extended warranty, but the salesman said that it did not cover the battery ???? The little hedge trimmer is sort of... read full review »
