Having purchased and used Craftsman tools for over 30 years, I can say that most have worked well and have taken a beating. I have several Craftsman C3 19.2 V cordless drills and will continue to use them with the standard C3 Ni Cad battery packs. I purchased the $89.99 C3 Lithium Ion battery several months ago because of a sale that included the charger. I didn't need it right away, so I let it sit past the 30 day warranty period. Big mistake!
This battery can fail several different ways. The way it failed for me couldn't be known until I used it in my Craftsman Right Angle Drill to drill holes...
read full review »This battery was good for the initial charge then failed the first time I tried to recharge it. I don't use my drill/driver much so the 90 day warantee had expired. I have bought many many products from Sears over the last 40 years and have been very satisfied with their customer support and quality of products. Evidently there is a new Sears now. Buyer beware.
The Craftsman Lithium-ion battery is longer lasting between charges and always ready to go even when it sits for longer periods. I purchased 2 of these and very happy with them. Only issue I had on second purchased battery was I could not even charge it as it was dead when button pushed right out of package. Charged it over night and still was red. When I tried to recharge it would only charge for 2-3 minutes then would cycle charger to done but still red. Had to return 2 times to store to get a "good" one. I looked at battery date and was from 2008 and bought from high volume store! I would suggest...
read full review »Worked great at first then after a few charges, one of the two batteries died. It will not charge at all. Sears says it's out of warranty so I'm out of luck... This is a known problem with these batteries. STAY AWAY!!!
I bought one of these batteries because my C3 trim saw and saws-all just don't last long enough with the NiCad batteries. For $89, it really doesn't last any longer. Initially the saws have more power, but doesn't last nearly as long as I'd expect for twice the price of a NiCad battery.
Live and learn.
I absolutely love the C3 line of battery-powered tools, and I get plenty of use from the one working Lithium-Ion battery I have. However, I would prefer to have two batteries so one would always be charging while I am using the other. Unfortunately my second battery died when I completely discharged it, being eager to complete the job I was working on. Now my charger just flashes "defective" when I try to charge it. That battery was brand new, so it lasted only one charge!
I think Sears should recognize there is a design flaw on these batteries and replace them regardless of any time limit on the...
read full review »The idea of the C3 system is great but both 19.2 Volt Ni-CD and Lithium batteries don't last, I had 6 Lithium batteries defected less than a year some of them only last couple usage ( Thank God! they are still under Warranty ), so far my 4 Ni-CD battery still working OK, because I don't use them as much as the Lithium, but their running time is very short and the Lithium battery running time last a little longer, but still very short for Lithium battery. At $89 each don't waste money on them. I'm stuck with them, because I had 14 C3 tools. C3 system is a very good idea but without a good battery,...
read full review »I really like the versatility of running multiple tools with multiple type batteries. The 19.2 C3 provides the power needed to run all the attachments I have recently purchased. I have not experienced any problems with the batteries going dead and not recharging. I use them till the light shows yellow then switch and recharge to the max. It has only been a few months but so far I am very satisfied with their performance.
I bought the battery pack a month ago, brand new. It charged and behaved as expected first time. I stored it after a full charge. A few days later, it was completely discharged by itself. Now it does not charge at all. I put it in the charger, it starts charging and stops within 30 seconds. Basically, it does not charge. This was supposed to be far superior to Nickel Cadmium battery-- Big Lie. Actually, I have a Nickel Cadmium Battery Pack, and I have used it nearly two years with my power drill, light and circular saw without any problems.
I wish I had read all the bad reviews about this...
read full review »Just bought my second lithium 19.2 battery, it works just as good as my first one which is 18 months old now. After reading many recent poor reviews, I was concerned about ordering another. But I made sure that the new battery's part number on back did not end in "06", but instead ended in "03". My new battery works fine, and I have recharged it several times now. Holds a charge and performs just like my older battery. I love the longer run time of the lithiums in tools that are battery "hogs" like trim saws or reciprocating saws. And the lighter weight of the lithiums are great for...
