I have both the thin version and fat version of this battery. I prefer the fat version of this battery as it lasts longer than the skinny version with almost double the amp hours.

People have indicated problems with this battery holding a charge, but I have not experience this, but I also swap out the battery when it indicates it needs a charge and I don't push its limits. Because of the thermal/voltage regulator the battery will stop working at some point. If you wait a few seconds you will be able to get it to work again, but don't. The thermal/voltage regulator is there to help prevent you from over discharging it, but if you press beyond it then who's fault is it when it won't hold a charge.

I have used it regularly on my reciprocating saw, circular trim saw, drill/screw driver and jig saw. I find it has more power than the ni-cads running longer and stronger.
...

I have 2 of these batteries and both work great. The one battery is a year old and shows no signs of failure. These batteries are a must if you use high drain tools like the hand held circular saw and the reciprocating saw. They last at least twice as long as the original ni-ca batteries. Another good quality is not having to wait for a full discharge before charging....

Overall I am very thrilled with these batteries. They give about 1.5x the useful run time with my craftsman tools and charge in the same time a standard Ni-Cad does. The real boon is that they make my once useless reciprocating and 5-1/4 saws fully functional. With the Ni-Cads, once you had about 10-20 charge cycles on a particular battery, they became useless for the saws because of they simply were not able to kick out the total current needed for them to do their job. Enter the Li-Ion and about 30 cycles deep and the units remain functional for 1.5x longer than a brand new Ni-Cad, every time.

The reason why I gave these batteries four stars as opposed to five is because at the end of the day they are not idiot proof and any end user or even careful hobbyist can destroy these batteries in short order. We all were taught to drain our rechargeable batteries to fully dead, then and only then put them on the charger. This is how you can brick your $90 battery in...
...

These batteries have never held a charge long. If I don't use the drill for over a week the battery runs out of power very quickly whether I leave the battery in the drill or not. And since the charger recommends removing the battery when fully charged I can't count on my backup battery having a charge either.

I have been using cordless drills 20 years and this is the worst battery I've ever had. I've never had this type of problem with other drills I've owned in shops where the drills were used daily or with my home drill which is used infrequently. This drill is my home drill so I don't use the drill that often.
...

My husband had been using 2 different nicad C3 batteries for all his C3 power tools. They basically suck. I bought the lithium C3 battery for my hubby, and he absolutely LOVES it!!! He said the power stays true to the end....until the battery dies. Unlike the nicad's, which lose power as the bettery runs down. The power lasts a lot longer than the nicads.

The only problem I have now, is that he wants to toss out the nicads and buy 2 or 3 lithiums!
...

I was reluctant to buy this battery/charger due to the preponderance of negative reviews that are all remarkebly consistent. But I received it as a Christmas present. I'm just a home user so I really didn't use my drill much until I moved about a year after I received the battery. At first I was loving this battery for its incredibly long charge interval. But just like all the other reviewers warned, I forgot to pay attention to its state of charge and I ran the drill until the battery died. After that it simply wouldn't hold a charge anymore. Eventually I disassembled it and replaced the two MOSFET rectifiers on the circuit board. Works fine now but for how long I don't know. The MOSFETS are screwed to an aluminum heat sink and I noticed only the tiniest dab of heat sink compond imaginable had been applied to them. So small it didn't cover more than 10% of their surfaces between themselves and the heat sink. When I repaired mine I used a liberal application of heat sink compound figuring...
...

Having purchased and used Craftsman tools for over 30 years, I can say that most have worked well and have taken a beating. I have several Craftsman C3 19.2 V cordless drills and will continue to use them with the standard C3 Ni Cad battery packs. I purchased the $89.99 C3 Lithium Ion battery several months ago because of a sale that included the charger. I didn't need it right away, so I let it sit past the 30 day warranty period. Big mistake!

This battery can fail several different ways. The way it failed for me couldn't be known until I used it in my Craftsman Right Angle Drill to drill holes to install house wiring. I drilled several holes and it worked fine. I started drilling another hole and the power just quit. I let go of the trigger and pressed it again and the drill started and ran for a couple more holes then quit. I recharged the battery and drilled a few more holes and it seemed OK. Next time I tried to use it, it quit every time I tried to drill a hole, so I ended the job...
...

I tooo purchased two of these lithium-ion batteries. 14 months later and both are DEAD. The Ni-Cad units are still working nearly as well. I should've saved the nearly $200.00. Sears will tell you that even one day out of warranty is too late. The people in the store are aware of the failures. Well, this is may be it. Was considering a new riding lawn mower for the cabin but I fear the wheels may fall off on day 366. STAY AWAY. or do what the store manager says, "See you should've bought the extended warranty". My response. Good luck with your next job, as Sears is losing customers quickly....
