Received shipment of rain gutter cleaning kit just hours before a big storm. Had the entire length of my home's rain gutters cleaned out in less that an hour! First used the blower attachment to blow out all the loose leaves and pine needles, followed by the vacuum nozzle around the entire length of...

Most Helpful Critical Review

I had the same problem another reviewer had as far as the pieces staying together.  I ran screws into connecting pieces and it stayed together well, however I don't know how tall the person in the photo is or if they were using extra extensions (the picture on the box clearly states it was being shown...

Helpful tool

I debated a lot before buying this, but I was desperate to find some way to clean the lower gutters without getting on a ladder.  I will have to say it worked better than I expected.  I did have the same problems as others with the fittings coming apart periodically, but overall I would buy again.  I only used it as a vaccum and not a blower, so I can't comment on the blower function.  It did fit my shop vac & attachments just fine.  My neighbor even asked me about it after he saw me using it.  I will also mention that we have the standard gutter gards on our gutters, but even they get clogged...

It works pretty well

Got the attachment and went right to work. My gutters were filled with leaves.  I did not have a problem with the attachments coming apart, like others have written. On the contrary, they were tough to get apart. Using my wet/dry vac and this attachment, I was able clean out the gutters about 98%. Leaves, water, etc. were all removed.

The only problem I had was the end of the attachment couldn't suck in heavy, wet, clumps of leaves. I had to clear the nozzle a number of times. Overall though, the unit got everything, save for large sticks. My wet/dry vac container was easy to dump into a recycle...

Financial considerations forced me to start cleaning my own gutters this year for the first time, but I have severe acrophobia and can't go past the second step even on a stepladder, so I had to come up with a way to do it from the ground. This gutter cleaning kit is my fourth try.

I tried two things with tong-like grippers on the end of a pole: one no-name gadget left by a previous owner and one called Gutter Sense that I found and ordered online. The found gadget was completely worthless. The Gutter Sense was much better designed. The tongs went into the gutter (between the roof overhang...

It is that time of year again in Minneapolis, MN, time to clean the gutters.  I did a second story addition on part of my rambler and now I have gutters about 24' high!  75% of my gutters are one story height, this kit is perfect for the job.  The second story I could only do part of it with this kit, the rest I had to do by hand.  For the one story gutters, it worked great.  I hooked it up to my 12 year old Craftsman 3.5HP 8 Gal wet/dry vac (very well used!).  I decided to try the vac to see what it can do.  It worked better then I expected.  The job would have gone a little faster if...

More thought needed

The idea is great! And it works fine IF you take the precaution to duct tape or use some sheet metal screws to keep the components together. Climbing on the roof to get the nozzle that has blown off is not my idea of fun. Every joint must be attached by more than just compression. Otherwise, you spend your time stopping, putting it back together, then starting up again. The manufacturer should have come up with a better way to keep the hose & nozzles together. Once attached with tape or screws, it works really great!!

Works quite well

This actually works quite well. It only comes with 2 extension tubes, so I used it in combination with the tubes that came with my vacuum and I could reach quite high. I was worried that the elbow might get stuck in my gutter, but it did not. Moving up and over all the gutter brackets every 12" or so is a pain, but not as much as using a ladder! After using this for about 1. 5 hours straight my shoulders really hurt later in the day; I would suggest taking frequent breaks.

Gutter Cleaning Kit

I convert my Craftsman 20 gal Wet Dry Vacuum to a blower and easily attach the two extension wands and "L Shaped" gutter nozzle/wand to blow out/off Redwood Tree needle-like feathers and cones from my roof gutters and overhead corrugated fiberglass trellis panels that cover my deck. Works great, safe and easy to use, not too heavy for a small woman to hold up and provides excellent directional blowing power. Saves me a lot of time and effort.

Wear goggles

The unit works quite well, however if the gutter has water in it you will get wet and muddy.

great concept...but

Blowing the gutters clean works much better than trying to suck the stuff out. This kit works well in this respect, but because the nozzle is so powerful it tends to blow itself off the extensions or blow the extensions apart from each other since they don't lock together. Fortunately for me, I was able to retrieve the parts from my roof without much trouble. Duct tape works well to keep it all together. The kit doesn't let you reach 2nd story roofs, but I rigged mine to work with the help of PVC conduit so I could reach the higher gutters of my 2-story house. Gutter muck still comes down on you,... read full review »

Relieved

I've been trying to find an easy and safe way to clean my gutters. Front yard has huge bushes so it's impossible to get a ladder in that area. Back yard is a HUGE slope so no ladder would stand up back there. This kit was an answer to a prayer! I bought this kit and the Craftsman 16 gal wet/dry vac (6.0 peak hp) and they worked fantastic. Simply to attach kit to wet/dry vac, suction was great, cleaned everything out of gutters in no time. And I mean everythingstanding water, leaves, gunky mess. I cleaned a gutter section then climbed the ladder to look in the guttermake sure it was working. Couldn't... read full review »

Love this!

I have used this for years and love it! You can stand on the ground and clean even high gutters. Works best with strong shop vac but it really cleans them out. I have had people driving down the street stop when I am using it and ask where they can get one! I just wish my Florida store would hurry up and get in the one that they had to order for me to use here. But I have used it, as I said, for a very long time in Michigan and I have maple trees that really make a mess of the gutters, but it is no problem each fall to clean them out quickly and easily with this item.

I should have purchased one of these years ago. Much easier and more effective that climbing a ladder and using a plastic gutter scoop and wisk broom to clean the gutters of my single story ranch house. SImple, inexpensive, and the attachements mate well with each other and with my original Shop Vac accessories. Could be the best $20 tool purchase I've made in a long time.

I'm using it in a different way than illustrated on the site. Rather than using a big vac, I'm using a battery-operated leaf blower. Works well, and there are no extension cords and vacs to drag around. YMMV.
