accuracy?

I purchased 2 of these Craftsman Infrared Thermometers. I used them to determine the temperature of the inside of my Sears refrigerator. It showed a temperature of 55 on one of them and 54 on the other. I called Sears Repair service and requested service on my Sears refrigerator still in warranty. The... read full review »

below average

I've purchased the product for future use and it appeared to be close to the rated accuracy 4 deg F which is pretty high for infrareed thermometers when first checked. When I needed to use it ~ 1/2 year later I've seen it read as much as 6 - 10 deg F off comparing to a Fluke infrared thermometer, that... read full review »

This thermometer is useless unless you don't care about being off for over 10F Too expensive for being from CHINA ugh Craftsman is sinking a new low for allowing stuff like this to come overseas... I would gladly spend a few bucks more if it were USA made.

Products value is over the top, for the cost.  So, worth it.  You will not be unhappy.  So very easy to use and work.

The equipment worked great right out of the box.  It was very accurate and easy to use.  The only draw back is the laser only operates after the trigger is pushed, then the operator has to push a seperate button to turn on the laser.  This is a little busy, but on the other hand it probable saves the battery (just guessing)   Been using mine in a virety of areas, auto mechanics, home and auto air conditioning.  Very happy with the product.  Priced many other units before purchasing,  This unit is comparable in price, but the Sears one year on the spot return policy sold me

InfraRed Thermometer

I read the reviews before I purchased this unit. I didn't care that the people who purchased a unit like mine found faults with it. I wanted to give it a chance. I needed the thermometer so I bought it. I read that it didn't shut off on it's own. Mine does shut off. I didn't care if it was a few degrees off, it is only about 4 to 5 degrees off, not bad. So far I think it's a good buy. If you need one don't hesitate. There is also a toll free number to call, with knowledgable people to answer your questions...

No way to turn off (COSTLY$$$$)

Bought this for temp measurments for my daughter's science fair project. Contrary to the user's manual and by testimony of other purchasers, the unit DOES NOT turn itself off once the battery is installed and a reading is taken. The only way to turn off is.....you guessed it.......take out the nine volt battery. This is very frustrating and costly if you don't. Would be a great little product if they could work this bug out.

Good Products For The Price

I found mine is only about 2 - 3 degrees off.  And also mine turns off just fine.  Stays on for about 6 seconds after taking the reading then turns off.  I don't know what everyone's talking about, (Maybe compertors), but overall this is a good product.

Digital Laser Thermometer

This is a slick tool. At first, you might think this is a novelty item, or a toy. Far from it. From quickly determining if heat or cool is coming from a ceiling vent, to seeing how hot a grill or pot is this has a wide variety of uses. When the plug from a space heater felt "warm", I found wires inside the wall receptacle to be touching, and causing resistance and heat. I then quickly checked every receptacle in the house in less than 10 minutes and found two others that were about 10 degrees warmer than the others. Found those two to have wires touching also. We use a much more expensive... read full review »

It will not shut off

The product would be great. When I received it as a gift I could not wait to try it. It appeared to work as advertised. The next time I went to use it the battery was dead. I replaced the battery and used it to read a tempature and noticed that the auto shut off does not work. The tempature display goes away but the tester is still on showing hold in the upper area of the display and F or C on the right side of the display. Yes the product is handy but you will need to disconnect the battery or put in a small micro switch in the handle.

Works Great

This is a great temp tester. It has a much better range than the auto parts store testers. It is light weight and easy to read lcd gauge. I just wish it had a nice little case to put it in.
