Except I got mine for free! That is the great thing about Craftsman tools - it breaks you get another one free! My old shovel broke from many years of yard use. When I took it back - they said go pick out another one. Since mine was many years older and made with a wooden handle I could not find a replacement. This is the only one they had - it was a much "upgraded" version of what I had. I expected to pay for the difference. What I got was a pleasant surprise. The clerk smiled, apologized for my inconvenience, thanked me for buying the Craftsman brand, put a store sticker on it and told me...
read full review »I returned a Craftsman shovel that I purchased four years ago, to my local Sears, because of a broken handle. I found that the replacement was the same price that I paid before. I decided to return the one and purchase an additional shovel. The new ones are durable and comfortable. When I went to the check out, they informed me of the Sears rewards card, which I signed up for, were very personable and helpful. I had reservations about making the return, but they made a joke about the broken handle and made me very comfortable about making ony my second return in 30 years. After signing up for the...
read full review »Bought this shovel a few months ago. Feels very sturdy, very good to work with, the feel is of high quality and it works excellent on stoney earth, and chops through bothersome roots in the ground easily. Great shovel, very well worth the money. Great looking for a shovel too. A fantastic Craftsman product. The only thing is it's a little heavier then a standard wood shovel.
The shovel is great except the handle could be sturdier... although the fact that you can replace it if it breaks makes up for it somewhat!
Another great product from Craftsman. This shovel feels light but stands up to hard prying and digging. I used this shovel for digging up a stubborn shrub in hard soil and it stood up to the abuse. This is a good piece of yard equipment.

this line of garden tools from craftsman are the best on the market. i have two of these shovels. the handles are strong, but lightweight. the steel is strong and hasnt surled or chipped in my stoney yard. the best part of all is the forever warranty. even if it does break, i can get a new one for free.
This shovel is a little heavier than wooden handle shovel but will last a lifetime. If it does break the forever warranty will get you a new one!
Good shovel. Rubber handle over fiberglass sometimes wears through. Very strong shovel. Good warranty, I know because I already exchanged one because of the rubber handle.
This shovel is very strong and well-built, but the rubber that covers the top of the handle is ****. After a month of using it, the fiberglass handle had punched its way through the top of rubber and had stated sliding down the handle. My suggestions is the rubber needs to be glued in place and not rely of friction.
UPDATE: I notice a few weeks later that the handle had been redesigned. It looks like instead of a handle being put on, it has been dipped in rubber. This should last much longer
I used this shovel to dig out a concrete post for a basket ball hoop. I used a different shovel the first time and the head cracked. After that I decided I needed a heavier duty shovel for the job and this was definitely what I was looking for. After I dug a hole around it I used this shovel as a wedge to move the concrete. I'm very impressed with it. Also, if for some reason it happens to break it has the life-time warranty.
