I received this Craftsman Platinum 190cc 22&#34 Briggs & Stratton Rear Bag Key Start Rear Propelled Lawn Mower as agift. I didn't even know that lawn mowers came with key starts! I love this mower. It does have a few flaws such as: 1. It is heavy and sometimes hard to maneuver, but the self propelled feature helps with that. 2. You do need to charge the battery for several hours before you need to use the key start feature, but it hasn't been a problem for me because i usually plan on when I'll be mowing the lawn. Now for the great features about this mower...I LOVE mowing my yard now! Yes, the self propell feature does go fast, but it's great exercise and as long as you're on level ground it makes it so easy! The bag attachment is very easy to put on and take off the mower. The mulch attachment is also very easy to use. I have a bad back and it is hard to bend so the key start is wonderful to me! I charge the battery the night before I plan on mowing and it starts on the first try. Once......

I have used this mower a few times now and it has done a great job. The mulching function works great on this mower. Also the easy-start system is a great feature. I had seen quite a few negative reviews on the mulching function but I have not had any probles with that. The handle is uncomfortable but other than that, this was a good purchase....

This mower went in twice for repair due to the rear wheels locking up. While moving the mower forward should unlock them such was not the case with this unit. More often than not I found myself lifting the rear so as to roll it backwards on the front wheels, thereby exposing my feet to the blade. An absolute waste of money. Grade: F-

I purchased this mower to replace another Craftsman mower with a Honda engine. That mower was very good but the height adjustment was poorly designed and regularly broke and needed repair Eventually the part was no longer available. This replacement mower was VERY HEAVY and difficult to handle on my uneven and sloped yard. The fatigue it created was equal to mowing my yard twice. The self propel drive system was belt driven and would not pull the HEAVY mower on gentle slopes. It functioned as "self-propelled" only about half the time I would mow my yard. The motor finally died today! Yahoo! It started spitting out oil and clanked loudly like some internal part broke. I'm glad now that I can justify purchasing a different mower!

I bought this mower for 4 reasons - good price (it was about $270 on a sale), the variable speed handle, electric start, and the Briggs and Stratton engine. My previous mower was another brand, but also with a Briggs and Stratton engine, and it was(is) an indestructible tank. My primary reason for buying when I did was the variable speed - the old mower was self-propelled, but at a fixed speed that was slower than my natural walking speed.

This mower has plenty of power - the variable speed handle is great and the key start is great. No complaints with any of that. That being said, I'm fully convinced that Sears does not have anyone doing Quality Assurance or testing on this product before selling it to the end user.

Many others have mentioned about the rear wheels being locked and difficulty pulling it backward when you let off the propulsion level. It does work fine if you roll it forward a foot or so without using propulsion and then come back. But the mower is pretty...

This mower works well and holds plenty of clippings in the bag. Mulching blade could be a little better.

Two areas of improvement would make this good mower (4 STARs) a great mower (5 STARs) ... 1) it should have a single lever height adjustment and .... 2) a BLADE BREAK system with a throtle control so you don't have to restart the engine each time you let go of the handle and reduce engine speed to an idle when you pause to empty the bag.. This is a "must have" to make this a great piece of equipment.

Problems with mulching as left clumps of grass unlike my last Craftsman 6.5 hp lawnmower. Bagging had nice improvements to make it easier. Battery charging for electric start was not possible as it wouldn't charge. Working with Sears to try to figure out why. Easy 1pull pull-start though.

Have used the mower a couple of times and found it to start very easily and is smooth to use. Have had the same problem noted in oher reviews with not being able to reverse direction easily, but found the pushing forward a few inches after releasing the self-propelled handle solved the problem.

Purchased the mower on-line while standing in the store using my smart phone and picked up immediately. No one in dept aknowldeged my existence nor seemed to care that I was there. On-line price was more than $100 cheeper than in-store price.

I bought this mower to replace a Toro personal pace mower that was almost ten years old. I should have stayed with a Toro. I have tried to get used to this mower - to the point that I used it four times and am over the 30 day return time. The electric start is good, but the engine still starts hard. The biggest complaint is that it will not roll backwards until it rolls forward a few inches not under power. If you go up to a fence, tree, etc. and do not stop so that it can coast, you need to drag the mower backwards. I bought the electric start so my wife could easily use it, but the difficulty pulling back makes any easy starting moot. I can't believe the mower engineers acuatlly allowed the design to go to production.

Not kidding, 1st time out, 1st time using the machine my 4'8", 75lbs, 12 year old son (1st time mowing a lawn ever) was able to mow the backyard that was about a foot high in places and not once did it stall. The sefl-propel was smooth and easy to control and really will get away from you if you squeeze the lever all the way.

I experienced the wheel lockup that everyone has mentioned when attempting to pull the mower backwards after using the self-propel but it's documented that it can happen and tells you what to do and never had a problem pulling it backwards.

The electric start works GREAT and the mulch mode worked fine. The machine groans at times when using the mulch mode because of clumping at the back of the mower but simply stopping and letting the machine process the clippings will stop the groaning.

Long term service will be determined...will post a followup review in the coming weeks.

Its easy to start and smooth cutting. Its heavier than typical lawm mover. I like it very much. I just wish there were some kind of padding on the handle bar.

Never had a rear wheel drive mover before and found it hard to control, especially around shrubs and smaller spaces. By the time I was done mowing our lawn my hands were sore from holding the metal handles and I was exhausted from trying to control the speed while mowing and maneuver around shrubs and trees. There is a handle that you control the speed with--the tighter you hold it the faster you go. Backing up to cut in tight spots was almost impossibe--I ended up leaving a lot undone just so I could stop. I used to enjoy mowing the lawn but now really dread the thought of it.

I love this mower. Starts with the turn of a key, no fuss there. I put an advanced mulch/bag blade on it and it tears through anything I throw at it. The rear drive is great, will run away from ya if you're not careful. Deck wash works wonders, the deck is nigh spotless. Bagging is quick & easy to do.

I bought this mower 2 years ago when we built our house! It was great that this mower had a key start. My wife was able to share the duities of mowing the lawn with me without having to do a pull start! The engine is powerful and the self propell makes mowing an ease! Best bang for your buck!

I purchased the Craftsman Platinum 190cc rear bag, key start, self propelled (rear) mower about three weeks ago and am thrilled with its performance. It has done a great job of removing the thatch from my yard and has made it much healthier as we approach the over seeding season. The key start is a great feature and works well as is the variable speed self propelled motor. The rear bag comes on and off with ease and does a decent job of keeping dust minimal.

I wish the mower had ball bearing wheels like some of the competitors and I would probably like to see a bit more traction on the rear wheels.

Overall, this is a good mower for the money and I recommend it to others.

I only used this mower once before I realized that it had to be returned. It is significantly heavier than a typical self propelled mower, and that makes it hard to maneuver. Then the rear wheels are constantly locking up when rolling backwards, making it even more difficult to maneuver. Too much of a hassle... Had to return it....

Who would've ever thought that I'd actually look forward to mowing the yard?!? The Craftsman Platinum 190cc 22'' Briggs & Stratton Rear Bag Key Start Rear Propelled Lawn Mower is actually fun to use, and it does a fantastic job as well! I must admit that my previous Craftsman mower almost ALWAYS started on the first pull, but the key start on my new mower is the "cat's meow." My old one was a manual push mower, so the self-propelled rear wheel drive makes mowing almost effortless. The bag is larger than before (I believe it's the industry's largest), the see-through "window" lets you know when it's full, and it's much easier to dump too. Plus, it was picking up so many grass clippings from previous mowings, it looked like I had vacuumed the yard! The EZ Deck wash system makes clean-up a snap, and whereas my old mower was kept out in the shed, my new one gets to stay in the garage - right beside the cars. LOVE IT!
