Switch Failed in less than three years

I bought a different sump pump 12 years ago and it's still going strong. I added this one in in a second sump with a dedicated 20amp circuit. The switch failed in less than three years - what else is there to say? (And Sears refuses to replace the switch under the "lifetime warranty".)
