Ok, So I brought the saw home openened the box and everything looked like it was there. The assembly is not as hard as others make it sound...in fact the only issue was a manufacturing defect where two welded nuts on the casters were missing and a quick trip to the hardware store fixed this. Once the saw was completed I was able to adjust the trunnions to within .003" in about 10 minutes. The rails for the rip fence took longer to adjust. Hint: when assembling the rails align them to each other and parallel to the cast iron table first, then adjust the stamped steel table wings and true them flat to the table. Love this saw....

I would not recommend this saw. The assembly is a little tricky and the boolet that it comes with isn't very helpfull. When I first opened mine the cast trunion was broken in 2 pieces. The company you call to replace the part is helpfull and have no problems getting you the parts you need sometimes you just have to wait for the part to be shipped from China. Alignment of the blade to the table top is pretty complicated there isn't much play. To get the most out of this saw look into a thin kerf blade.
...

I have had a small Craftsman table saw for the las 30 years. The issues I had were a rip fence that was not always locking straight and a miter that moved to much in the guide. It was ok for normal cutting but I wanted to do some projecgts that required better precision. So I decided it was time to upgrade. I first determied the features that were most important to me. I looked for a table saw with the following criteria:

1) Had to be well built, heavy duty

2) Had to have a heavy duty rip fence that did not move when positioned with a built in measuring tape

3) Had to have a miter without "slop" in the movement in the guide

4) Had to have a large table top surface do that I could cut large boards without having to hold the piece and try to guide it against the fence.

5) Had to have seperate height and angle adjustments

6) Had to be able to run a full DADO set

7) had to be precision equipment

8) Had to be reasonably priced

This saw is all that and more!

Now for the issue: After unpacking...
...

I have read many reviews about the assembly being very difficult, this saw was fully constructed in under 2 hours. The directions were extremely easy to follow and step by step. You have to read them very carefully though. The saw is outstanding. I used it to rip some 4X4 cypress post and ripped them with ease. This saw also has a huge ripping capacity which is 30" on right and around 15" on the left(sears failed to mention this spec for some reason) all around this is a great table saw for a professional woodworker or contractor. You will not be disappointed. This may be a usefull tip for others interested in this saw, when installing the rip fence rails make sure you have a level on top when bolting it on because it will be unleavened if not. Other than that everything was a breeze. The blade is ok. It obliviously not the best, I will upgrade to a Freud 60 tooth blade for a finer cut and also will last much longer. One last thing I left out was make sure you have a separate receptacle......

The Craftsman Professional 10 in. Contractor Saw was a very needed replacement for my previous saw. I spent about 3 months looking at table saws and reading reviews before I decided to buy this one. I took all the pros and cons into consideration before I made my purchase. I got the saw home and unpackaged everything in my shop and did my inventory to make sure everything was there. I read the assembly instructions twice before even starting to assemble. It took approximently 3 hours from the time I started to assemble to the time I finished. The instructions were easy to read and guided me through step by step. As with any table saw I replaced the blade before I began any projects. I then cleaned up all the packaging material and plugged in my new saw and did a few practice cuts. I had to make a few easy adjustments to the blade and got it running straight as an arrow. I have since made 12 cabinets, 2 dressers and a built in book shelf. I have had several friends over to my shop and...
...

OK, I have owned my Craftsman 10 inch Contractor Table Saw for almost 6-months now and have gotten to make a few projects with it and make some of my own table saw jigs and it beats my last table saw without question. I had placed my new table saw on layaway and when I went to pick it up, the box was enormous. I got to my shop and used my I-beam lifting hoist to lift my new table saw from the truck and down to where I could unbox it on the ground. The very first thing I grabbed was the owner's manual and read through it before touching a thing inside of the box. Then I unboxed the unit and inspected all of the parts and checked that everything was accounted for. I then got the necesary tools that I was going to need to assemble my new table saw and started on putting everything together. It went together very well and with the aid of my electric jib crane inside of the shop, it was pretty simple to assemble on my own. I finished the assembly and then set the blade square...
...

Nice saw, great price, dastardly hard to assemble (like building from a kit) and the motor failed after 13 months of limited use. It shut down while ripping a set of five 2x4s. I reset the overheat cut-off and it would start and then almost immediately shut down, even after thoroughly heating and cleaning the saw and motor. Thinking that it might be a faulty overload switch I added power directly to the motor and after 15 seconds it trips my 20 amp circuit. Only option: replace the entire motor unit for nearly half what I paid for the saw. Meanwhile, I'm using my father's Craftsman saw which he purchased 45 years ago. It still works fine after building several houses. Even if Sears gave me a new one, I think I'd spend more for one already assembled.
...

I had my saw delivered and it arrived intact with all the parts. I'd read some reviews where the cast iron pieces were broken in transit, but my saw was securely packaged and undamaged.

My only real complaint during assembly was the base; the sides were a little out of alignment, which was fixable by flexing the frame as I screwed the sides together. However, when it came time to attach the base to the saw itself, one of the four pre-drilled holes would not line up with the saw base, no matter how much twisting and pushing I did. I ended up having to use a Dremel tool to widen the hole a bit so that the bolt would thread through properly.

The saw itself is solid, and for the price, I'm very happy with what I've recieved. The aluminum wings are stable and the cast iron top is rock-solid. The built-in casters are very convenient and the built-in accessory storage keeps everything centrally located.
...

I have had this table saw for several months and am overall pleased. The assembly instructions were well written with lots of photos, very easy to follow. Upon initial setup, had issues making cuts as the blade would get stuck in the wood even though the motor was spinning. It was not heavy wood by any means, just 1/2 inch MDF. Upon inspection, thought that I had either a stretched or oversized belt. I could literally see the motor wheel spinning with no contact with the belt. I had purchased the in-home warranty and Sears sent some one out immediately to assist. It turned out that the belt could be tensioned and was merely loose. I have had no issues since initial set up.

What sold me initially on this saw was the riving knife. It is easy to use, I actually leave it on and use it all the time compared to the splitter on my old saw which was removed and simply never used.

With more use, I decided that I did not like the fence . I upgraded to a Vega fence and had no...
...

I love this saw. I too had a radial-arm saw for about 30 years, so it was high time for me to get a table saw. While I am not an expert wood worker, I have worked with saws of different kinds in a lumber yard, and this model 351.218330 impressed me, as it has a cast iron table bed, and for the money looked like the best fit for me. Yes, it comes with a cheap blade, but remember, you are buying the table saw, not the blade. Most of your work may well be done with a combination blade. BUT, when you want precision, and clean cuts, you will also need high quality Crosscut, Rip, and blades that specialize in cutting laminates.

As far as I am concerned, they could keep the blade, and mark the unit down ten-bucks, because I know from the get-go that I will need a good set of blades anyway. I'll give the one that came with my unit to that neighbor who is always borrowing stuff.

Assembly is not so hard. Just be sure that the delivery guys set the box down according to the ”This Side......

Yes this saw takes a bit to assemble. Took me a couple hours and have never put one together before but I found the instructions clear and everything was illustrated. Once assembled you need to adjust the fence so its square to the t-slots. I use a homeade jig with dial indicator that fit tightly in the t-slots and got the fence setup just right.
I've had the saw now for about a year. My impressions are that the original blade was junk and replaced it with a quality blade. The fence is accurate and repeatable down to under 1/32" ( I always double check with a tape measure anyway but it speeds things up if your really close or right on to begin with). Saw works great, have had no problems at all. So glad I got this over the smaller contractors saw (This one isn't portable as it weighs a ton and 2 average guys are not going to lift it into a truck). My only nit pick on the saw is that the extension tables are powder coated and the powder coating seems to grab the wood sometimes and makes......

I am a professional woodworker with a small shop and growing business. 14 months ago I bought the Craftsman 10" contractor saw 351.218330 on a special low price sale at almost $600.00 with tax. It was my replacement for a Ryobi ZRRTS30 10-in Table Saw. I wasn’t able to use it full time until two months ago when I got some projects that required me to work full time on my workshop. In those previous months I kept using my Ryobi saw because I was working on the field most of the time.

After I bought it, I noticed a misalignment of the fence rails with the rip fence. On a close inspection I saw that the weld spots on the fence brace screws (part #31148.00) were wrong and the angles were off. Thus if you tried to make the rails parallel, they would be closer together on the brace side than on the saw base. I went to Sears with a small square to show the sales representative the misaligned welded part on the fence brace. He called his superior and after some tense minutes of deliberation he...
...
