I've owned craftsman lawnmowers and other brands all my life, but this one is by far the worst.
Pro's
To start off, this mower has some great advantages but some terrible personal experiences.
I like the zero turn radius, was very useful. Even gets closer than other mowers. Less edging to do.
I like...

I just purchased this mower and used it for the 1st time today. More than enough power, one of the best cuts I've had. Easy to use grass bag. (maybe just important to me because my last one was such a pain) Of course, I understand I've only used it once. However, based on this experience I'm looking forward to a great summer. IMO-a great product!
I have had this mower for two years. Exact model and engine minus the electric start. All I can say is that this is the best mower I have owned. I have read a lot of negative reviews on this mower and haven't had the issues. Of course you do need to know what you are buying and what to expect.
This is not a light weight mower and yes the cutting level is not a one level process. Not a big deal unless you change your cutting height every week. The caster wheels make this a "must buy". It is so easy to mow around trees and my curvy yard. Save lots of time and effort. Still starts on one pull every...read full review »
I have really enjoyed this mower, I have to admit the first time I used it, it whipped my behind! but I got the groove by the second time . The hubcap did come off but I kinda expected that because the one in the store was off, and the salesman said he couldn't make it stay on.No big deal,I do keep it very clean because for me that's a lot of money. You do have to tighten your wing nuts but that is stated in your maintenance .
Fist off, this is the first review I have ever written. I bought this mower on a whim. Usually I cut my grass with a riding mower. Several areas of my lawn where reseeded this year and I wanted a push mower to use while the grass comes in. I was going to buy a cheap push mower then decided it would be nice to have a bag and then if I was going to spend that much I might as well get one that is self propelled. Before I knew it I was looking at this mower that was on sale for $150.00 off the regular price. The thing that really caught my eye was the casters and the Pro grade construction.

Rubber bands have to be removed before this mower will work. They are on the drive belt so you have to take off bottom cover to get to them. There is nothing in the set-up instructions about this. I knew it from reading these reviews. The electric start is weak works sometimes. In less than 90 days the mower stopped pumping gas. would only run when primed. I returned and was charged 15% restocking fee. I did not want it repaired. I had a sears edger in for repair and it takes 2 weeks. I will leave a review of the edger today. Buy a honda.
This is one of the biggest pieces of junk I have ever used. The electric start constantly won't turn the motor over even after being charged. The bag design is horrible and does not want to stay on. When it does it throws grass everywhere but in the bag it seems. Changing from bag to mulch is a process instead of a simple task. The design of the deck and blade clog very easily even in dry grass. The main requirement it is designed for it cannot competently do, cut grass. For almost $500 I expect more from Sears. Now I am being told that I have to pay a restock fee to get this thing out of my garage....read full review »
Purchased mower this evening and
returned it within 30 minutes. Got the mower home and unpacked it and found that the cable for the blade control was about 3 inches too short. Don't waste your time with this mower. This is the second Craftsman mower that I purchased and had to return. I will never purchase a Craftsman mower again. Buy a Honda instead.
I bought this mower because I needed a good strong rear wheel drive mower. After about 6 mowings, the left rear wheel stopped driving. I took it in for repair and it took over 1 1/2 months to get it back. I mowed the lawn twice and it is doing the same thing. There is no drive on the left rear wheel. The warranty repairs cost Sears $300.
Don't buy this mower, it is junk
Tried to mow the lawn with the bag and grass shot through the bag attachment. If you look at the top of the bag (handle) and look on the edges, you will see an inlet (gap) on each side. The powerful engine Hi Vac system shoots the grass through these holes and along the side of the bag attachment. I stood in a cloud of grass clippings. Then the wheel cover fell off the mower! My wife laughed at me and I returned the mower. Must say, the zero-turn feature on the mower is great and should be on more mowers! This mower has the potential to be great!
I decided to buy this mower, even after reading the mixed reviews. My previous Craftsman mower did a yeoman's job over 8 years and held up to a lot of use and abuse. The thought was that this was a new design and all of the flaws pointed out in other reviews were probably just 1st year bugs. I was wrong. Most of the issues experienced by others came true. The mower was fairly easy to put together, but the issue with the difficultly in getting the nut loose on the front caster happened to me. Took a while to get the thing loose. The pull cord does get in the way of the bag and has a habit of coming...read full review »
I had high hopes when I purchased the mower as a replacement for an *old* Murray that had given up the ghost a few weeks ago. The grass was two weeks beyond length for cutting.
All in all the assembly went very well, and the motor started fairly quickly the first time on the electric start.
I decided that I would cut the lawn before going to work, so it was wet as well as long. This combination was apparently a bit too much for the mower to lift up and into the catch bag. I was having to stop often to try to unclog the mower. The front yard ended up a big mess with clippings all over, and I decided...read full review »
this mower is way overpriced and is not made as quality as it should be the bagging system is poorly designed. Also, the hubcaps fall off more than they are on so i would recommend you buy a different mower than this one
