This was my first big-boy tool purchase...getting into woodworking and needed something above beginner grade.

This fit the bill...I researched fully and found the bundle on sale for $209.99...D-Handle, straight and plunge bases with the soft start 2 1/4 HP motor.

It's SWEET!!!!

I would buy again if given...

28190 12.5 amp 2-1/4 router

The router itself is nice and smooth but the throat plate is not designed well at all. I had to use a forstner bit to make the opening big enough to accept a 3/4 inch rounding bit, a very commonly used bit. That is very poor design! In dealing with this matter, I obviousely had to remove the throat plate...

Great Router

I bought this router to use in my shop at home it works great quite easy to use. I like the work lite that is built in, it helps out gives that little extra you need at times to see what your carving. I would say it is well balanced fits my hands well the grips are nice rubber material to reduce hand fatigue the adjustment setting are very nice and accurate I recomend this Router it well do the job for beginers or seasoned wood workers.

Works great.

A great router easy to set up and use. Has plenty of power. Easy to adjust bit height. Would recommend to anyone for any use.

Does the job well

This is my first router and I had no specific expectations.  I can see why others rave about the soft start.  Even with it, the housing is torqued a bit when the tool is switched on.  I found the height adjustment quite precise, something that is uncommon in power tools I own.  The tool slowed a bit when I made a deeper cut than I probably should have.  It's not a good idea since the cutting rate is really gated by the bit.  The Craftsman carbide bit I bought with it was disappointing.  It seemed to have dulled after the one job I did, which was to cut about 0.200" off a 60" long,...

Buy it Now!

This is an excellent Router.  Robust and plenty of power.  If you spend any more than you have to pay for this one,  you're spending too much and making a mistake.  I would recommend this for any job - big or small!

VERY NICE ROUTER!!!

I have been using this router for over a year. I have used it with huge router bits to cut raised panel doors and it gets the job done. I am only back on the site because I am trying to find replacement parts for it (such as a 1/2" collet and an extra router wrench). Which would be a bad thing about this item. Is that I cant find these items. I would also like to buy a plunge base for this router by itself but cant seem to find one. These items should be more available.

I have used this on a few projects and this is a great unit. I have an older model to compare it to, and this one out performs it.  The speed control is a great option when working with both hard and soft woods. The work light is great. Wish the bag that it came with was alittle bigger. I have ahard time fiiting all the parts it came with in the little storage bag.

Does the job quiet well

Although I am not a pro by a long shot i was looking for a router with enough power to use in a good router table that would not break my budget. I looked at the other brands then came to Sears. I have had this router for a couple of years and have been very pleased with the performance. It has plenty of horse power and it was the first good router I had ever encountered. I had a saleman in a so called professional wood workers store chide me about using Craftsman but I let him know real quick that this router in my opinon was as good or better as the high end stuff they pushed off on some unsupecting...

I purchased this router to replace an old Craftsman which did not have enough power to handle large bits and did not have variable speed.  I installed the router in my table and started routing raised panel doors for several large cabinets I was making.  The unit performed very well, especially when using a large bit to cut a coved edge panel.  I have not had an opportunity to use the router without the table, but from what I have seen the router is well worth the money.  Changing bits can be a little difficult while the unit is still in the table, but with a little inginuity I have been...

A dead unit

Unlike the excellent reviews the other people have given, this router died withing one minute of use. When I first bought it I anticipated needing it within a few days but was delayed in using it by four months. Yesterday, within a minute of use, it died. The power indicator lamp is illuminated but nothing happens when the switch is turned on. It appears that one of the output drivers (SCR, triac, etc) has opened up - I'm guessing, but this is what appears to be bad.
