I gave this line trimmer 5 stars because I believe it deserves it, although for me it is a love-hate relationship. However, all my complaints stem from matters of preference and I feel that this should not take away from the score since the trimmer really is a fine machine and my opinions will not always...

I read prior reviews and then went to Sears to look at this unit & possibly buy since it was made by Husqvarna. While at store, I saw the same unit leaning against the counter, box open, tank full of gas, and returned by another customer. I had second thoughts but bought a new unit anyway. My unit now...

I bouught this trimmer , because I thought being Craftsman Professional model it was top of the line . I don't mind paying the money as long as I get good service out of the product . The first trimmer I bought , I started it up the first time . I had a very loud knock , coming from the engine . So I took it back to Sears and returned with no problems . Instead of the refund , I decided to give this model another try . First time I used it , no problems . The second time I went to use it , the pull cord broke when I went to start it . So I took it back to Sears , for a full cash refund . I don't...read full review »
Starts right up, trims nice, spins the opposite way of most trimmers which takes a little getting used to, when I first get it I thought there was something wrong as it made a loud clanging noise. Turns out the clutch was just at the edge of engaging due to the idle being slightly high. Turned it down and it is much quieter now. Nice long length and lightweight. Makes the trim after a cut a non-issue. Unlike the old trimmers (I just gave away the 3 in my shed now that I have this one).
Have used twice so far, starts easily, and has plenty of power. Took a little getting use to, it spins in the opposite direction of my old trimmer. Would like to have the bump head, may add that later. I under stand it is made by Husqvarna. I was thinking about buying the Echo trimmer, but price won out. It comes with a 3 year warranty (Echo had a 5 yr). Only time will tell how it works and lasts. My inexpensive Ryobi lasted 15 years with regular maintenance.
now this is the BEST line trimmer I have ever owned,,and I have had many of the other name brand line trimmers and will never buy another one!!! this thing is so easy to start, and use... changing the line is quick and easy, but use the .130 line in a roll from sears and cut it your self to save money,,.130 line last way longer!! this is a way better trimmer than the standard craftsman line trimmers...
This is the best trimmer I've ever owned! Highly recommend to friends and family. My only complaint is the trim guard is way too small, you will be cover with clippings. Wearing long pants and safety glasses are a must.
Want to cut 1" thick 3' high weeds with the same machine you use to trim your yard ? This 2 stroke Pro will do with ease what the big 4 strokes can't handle ! Love it - great power, balance and run it for an hour on 1 tank of fuel. The 4 stroke would use 3 times more fuel.
Don't even need a strap.
I feel it is an excellent product.52 inch shaft, power to get the job done. Some users feel it is too heavy, but it seems light after using my old 4 cycle trimmer.Started on 3 pulls right out of the box.Dependable, easy to maintain,I feel it is well worth the price.
Powerful and Lightweight. This Craftsman Professional 2 cycle gas trimmer features a powerful, commercial grade 28cc full crank engine which provides extended engine life and reduced vibration. The forged connecting rod also increases durability and extended engine life. The Sim-Pul feature makes starting fast and easy with a smooth easy pull of the rope. The accelerator pump in the carburetion system allows for rapid and crisp acceleration. The digital ignition system enhances starting and protects against engine over speed. The always on stop switch makes for convenient restarts and more time...read full review »
I really like this weed trimmer. It is very easy to start and is quiet. I used to have an older weedeater trimmer that died on me. This new trimmer has a lot of power and can take on bigger weeds and brush with ease. The reviewer that was complaining about getting covered in grass needs to point the rotation of the head away from his body and it will throw the grass away from him and the trimmer. This is the best trimmer I have owned to date. The trimmer is longer and slightly heavier than the pervious trimmers I have owned and needed to adjust to this. You will not have any regrets if you purchase...read full review »
In short this trimmer is awesome.
I had an older inexpensive trimmer that was given to me (Craftsman), it always started right up I'd constantly have trouble with the string breaking and have to pull out the spool and reseat it every 10 minutes. It drove me nuts.
I purchased this one, there is a notable difference in just the quality of the pull and the sound of the motor. It works amazing and seems much more rugged.
Whomever invented the new system for inserting the string is a genious, SO simple and obvious, why they build a trimmers and other way is beyond me.
At this price you can't go...read full review »
Purchased this model and am dissappointed. I have used many different line trimmers in my day aqnd this one is the worst. Eats line for breaffast, lunch and dinner and it is a pain to always replace the line. The bump/feed type is much better. Power is lacking also, for 28ccd this thing should have more power. I have a Kawasaki with 21cc that is stronger. I am very unhappy and plan on returning this unit. I have been in this business for some 30 years and I can tell you this unit I am not happy with.
