Does anyone know the purpose of the steel rod & loop coming up from between the engine and gas tank??  It is not a part listed in the owners manual.  Any thoughts?

I have no idea what rod and loop you're talking about. You don't mean the rod that connects the joystick to the chute, do you? Or the sparkwire harness? Can you offer more detailed information regarding this "rod and loop?"

Looks like something they use at the factory to lower the engine onto the chassis, just a guess since it is only on the bigger blocks.
