Craftsman Professional 40 cc - 18 in. Gas Chain Saw with Carry Case —

Excellent saw, lightweight and compact. A little research reveals the saw made in Japan by Zenoah, a Japanese company bought by Husqvarna a couple of years ago. It looks exactly like the Zenoah GZ4000, the placement of the two reservoir caps and every other feature looks identical. It is a low emeission engine which barely smokes while in use. Very different to the old saw I had which could be counted on to produce clouds of smoke when in use. The bar and chain are by Oregon and the chain tensioner mechanism is all metal. While I haven't figured out which screw the diagram refers to, the oiler appears to have be adjustable. The idle speed has an adjustment as well. The high and low fuel air adjustments are factory set and were just fine from the start. The Japaanese version (and its manual) calls for 10-30 w oil for the bar oiler. The sears manual calls for straight bar oil which resulted in the chain running a little dryer than I liked. I tried 10-30 and that seemed to work ok, but got used used up quickly. I think straight 30 wt may be the best compromise, which I will run next. All in all seems like a very well built saw. Starts easily and every time. The anti-vibration system is very good, the saw feels very smooth in use. As always time will be the best test, but so far, no complaints.
