I purchased this chain saw through my local Sears outlet store. The Salesman was very professional and was able to get me this saw quickly. I picked up the saw and brought it home. It went to work the next day cutting down a tree at a Church. The tree was 36 inches around. I fired up the saw and it... review »

Purchased this with advice from another review. This machine is in fact a Zenoah/Komatsu chain saw. The first unit purchased worked fine, although the main handle was shattered upon taking it out of the box.  I returned it for a second unit, brought it home and started it.  The second saw had a problem...

Excellent saw, lightweight and compact. A little research reveals the saw made in Japan by Zenoah, a Japanese company bought by Husqvarna a couple of years ago. It looks exactly like the Zenoah GZ4000, the placement of the two reservoir caps and every other feature looks identical. It is a low emeission engine which barely smokes while in use. Very different to the old saw I had which could be counted on to produce clouds of smoke when in use. The bar and chain are by Oregon and the chain tensioner mechanism is all metal. While I haven't figured out which screw the diagram refers to, the oiler... review »

Saw starts and runs well, lots of power, especially good buy at the sale price !! I'm sure it is made by Husqvarna. The "Professional" tag on Craftsman tools usually is a mark of a quality tool !!

I've become pretty skeptical of Craftsman products in recent years but picked up the Craftsman Professional 18" saw to replace an early 80's Craftsman due to a great sale price. I've had it for about a year now and have no complaints whatsoever. It's got plenty of power, is lightweight and relatively quiet. It always starts with a couple pulls. It's got a plastic housing but has turned out to be fine and has taken some pretty good hits falling off stumps and tailgates with no damage. Easy to use controls and even a decent case. If you're going to get a Craftsman saw for light to medium-duty... review »

Purchased this chainsaw in April to finish cleaning up after December's ice storm when my father-in-law needed his Husqvarna back. After comparing many models I settled on the Craftsman pro for its light-weight, quick chain tensioning system and low price (I purchased it on sale). In felling and bucking about a dozen trees with diameters up to 30" I have not been disappointed. The saw starts easily every time, runs great and slices through everything like a hot knife through butter. Only recommendation is using a good bar/chain oil. The first generic brand I bought was used up prior to the tank... review »

After two days of working this saw hard I'm happy that I purchased it. It's pretty light for its power which makes a big difference when you're up a ladder. My old saw was hard to start especially when warm. But not this one, only once in two days did it not fire up first pull. A huge difference when you are up in a tree. The oil tank is fairly small so you need to be careful not to run it dry and blunt a chain like I did. But I don't really mind that because less fluid equals less weight. Well worth the money so far. Hope it lasts!

I've owned and used a good number of saws, including more expensive ones.  I have nothing bad to say about this saw...  It cuts good, has very low vibration, starts easy, was a bargain($200 sale price) and hopefully will last forever with its chrome lined cylinder. I don't know about being a "professional" saw but definitely upper end for home user, occasional user.  Made cutting down and cleaning up my willow tree with a 3 foot diameter very very easy.

Puchase 3/2009 on line.  Used once.  First chain saw I've owned.  Blade dulled very quickly.  Friend noticed that the chain oil resevoir was empty.  Must keep that full or it gets to hot and dulls blade much to fast.  Then it would not start because the primer bulb was leaking air.  I returned it at store.  Because it was less than 90 days they gave me a brand new one.  Much to my surprise the neww one did NOT have a prime bulb.  It starts fine without it and it cuts fine on branches 14" or less in diameter.
