Very useful but could be better

I bought one of these as I literally live in the woods and spend around 5 weekends a year as year cleaning up the mess my trees dump on my lawn. When buying I was hoping for a massive time saver and it is in a way but here's my 2c on this product. I'll start with the Cons:

Cons:

1. I have many tight...

This particular model is way under built as to the wheels, axle and tongue.  The motor is mounted with almost all the weight to the right of the tongue.  The motor and vac wheel is quite heavy and constantly torques to the right putting wear pressure on the right wheel and that side of the axle.  One...

This is my lawn vacuum that I purchased for 1 acre land. I have many trees, mostly full grown tall ones, no cones, just leaves.

I have the need for this type of system as all the leaves go to the back as mulch. It reduces all the yard leaves to a manageble amount to decompose.

The assembly took me 6 to 8 hours. The cart was the most time consuming. For the adapter you must have some cutting tools or know someone who does. I must give my brother in law due credit since he owns a similar yard vacuum. Everyone must own a system likes this in an area with a lot of trees.

I recommend placing the hose...

We waited until Sears friends and family sale to get the extra 10% off this machine.  We were very excited when Sears called to say it was at the store.  Our salesman had told us it came assembled.  It was in a box with many, many small parts, and unassembled.  They said they would assemble it for us and call us when it was ready.  The guys in the warehouse couldn't put it together...even the salesman pitched in to help and couldn't get it to fit together correcly.  They wanted to drill some holes in it to "make it fit".  Of course we weren't about to void the warranty on a $900 unit. ...

I got this to clean my yard of oak leaves and it does a great job. I have 43 oak trees on 3/4 of an acre in town and several of my neighbors are elderly.Because of their age they aren't able to clean up their leaves. This lawn vac make it easy to do a big job in not much more time than it takes to mow my lawn. The remote kit is worth the cost if you have flowerbeds to clean out in the fall. The only negative is the top doesn't seal to keep the yard waste from leaking out while sucking up the debris.

Very Poor Quality

I purchased the unit this spring to pick up leaves and pine needles. When the unit arrive the box was smashed and completely destroyed. A few parts were missing. I ordered and received the new parts in about 1 week. The assembly instructions are very poor. The unit picks up leaves ok, but does a very poor job with pine needles. After using the unit 4 times the axle broke, the unit is designed so the axle wears on the metal for the tow bar and the wheel support, there are no bearings or bushings so it wore through the axle and it broke. I now need to spend an additional $37.22 to get the axle so...

Very Good indeed!

This is a great labor saver. It was taking 2-3 weekends to rake all the leaves in the fall. The leaves cover almost 2 acres, several inches deep, and had to be hauled into the woods making up the other 1.5 acres. Last fall the weather did not cooperate, so I cleaned what was left (most of it)last weekend with this vacuum in just a few hours. The adapter actually fits pretty well, and the included little bungee cords hold well, too. I drilled a small hole in my 42" Craftsman mower deck to attach the rear bungee and it all works very well. I attempted to use the adapter for the original grass catcher,... read full review »

4 stars

I bought the previous model to this , the monster vac. Assembly went ok, but I had to adjust a few holes in the poly dump. Elongating them just a little with a drill was too easy. Assembly took about 4 or 5 hours. I added this to an older Ariens GT18 tractor. The fit kit cutout is a one shot deal but turned out ok. I modified that bolt on deck bracket by pulling carriage bolts up into my deck. Now I place the adapter on the deck with wing nuts for quick removal and installation. I also drilled a few holes in the adapter front to eliminate vacuum dead-spots where clumps build up and eventually release... read full review »

Does what we need it to.

Compared to other products on the market this lawn vac appears to be fairly priced and it certainly has plenty of vacuum power.

All in all I like the machine and would recommend it to others with two caveats:

1). Assembly of and assembly instructions for the cover were horrendous. Total assembly time was probably 2 hours but over an hour of it was spent trying to figure that out.

2). The one size fits all deck attachment is ridiculous. The instructions are unclear, the multiple cutting templates with different, sometimes contradictory instructions are confusing, the fact that it is designed...
