Easy To Install and No Chains Needed

I installed these weights on my 42" Craftsman Professional Garden Tractor for use while plowing snow. First, I do not understand why one user complains about the installation process -- I installed the weights in my garage, wheels on the tractor, in 18 degree temperatures (so I was in a hurry) and had... read full review »

Don't get me wrong - I love Sears Craftsman products for their quality and value.  But I can't recommend these weights.  I tried these on my YT 4000 yard tractor, to use for snow plowing.  After just two weeks of light home use, the bolts on one side completely sheared off!  That's completely unacceptable....

Only took about 25 minutes to install. A little hard to get behind the wheel but with the right tools not bad at all. Love the way they go on and off after the shaft is on. A lot better then my old ones.

very easy to install on my crafstman 4500. they help on hills and in ditch in my front yard. again they are very easy to install with a 3/8 ratchet 4" extension and a 9/16 deep well on the inside and a 3/8 stubby wrench on the outside. can be done in 15 min or less.

While they seem to work well they were terrible to install. The shafts that come thru the wheelwell should be several inches longer.Probably would be easier to install if wheel was taken off. That would of course make the installation time much longer.

being a mechanic by trade they were a easy install and do a very good job on traction in yard even on my very hilly yard on other reviews i noticed a bolt problem if locked on good and tight very good chance they will hold

Had them installed in 10 minute and that included getting and putting away the tools. For the folks that had or are having issues installing the nuts in the back of the wheel, roll the tractor forward or backward to bring the holes to the bottom of the wheel. As far a shearing bolts, don't use a tool on installing the retaining studs. If they are too tight, once you get on the tractor, the tires will spread wider (your added weight) and the strain on the studs along with going over bumps can strip or shear the studs. They are only meant to hold the weight on, not support the tire pressure.

easy to install and a must when plowing - don't forget the chains as well - highly recommended for snow removal
