I got my snow blower yesterday, and it works great....but let me tell you, you better get some spares of these shear pins! The blower came with two spare pins. I went through one in the morning and at the end of the day I needed two more. Since I had only one spare remaining, no more snowblowing for...review »
We got our Craftsman snowblower last year. It came with 4 spare shear pins and we used them all. I bought 8 more to have for this yesr, but SO FAR I've broken 27 this year. I buy them by the dozen now. I have a gravel driveway up in the mountains, but that just doesn't seem right, even though I appreciate...review »

Craftsman Replacement Snow Thrower Shear Pins Ratings and Reviews
These shear pins work fine and saved me during a recent storm. I had one pin broken and no spares so I was getting only 3/4 of the power of the snowblower.
Replacing the pins was easy with a little 3-in-1 oil. I drove the old pin out with the new pin, slid it in place and with a pair of needle-nose pliers tied the cotter pin.
Shear pins might be a problem on gravel driveways, but on my 300' paved driveway, they function fine. This is the first pin I've replaced in 4 years!
If you are snowblowing a gravel driveway, be reasonable. These do what they are suppose to. I have a paved driveway and have replaced them once . on my 2nd year. The bad reviews are from people who are expecting a $2 part to take care of a a $5000 issue.... pave your driveway, or get a snowplow
The pins seem to do the job, but why would you sell a package of pins without the cotter clips to hold them in? I've broken several shear pins, and havent once found the cotter pin that held the shear pin in. Doesnt seem right to sell the shear pin when it is useless without the cotter pin.
Same issues, gravel driveway and excessive shear pin breakage. I eliminated them and use bolts with nylon lockwasher nuts. The bolts will still shear if needed but not as frequently and they are much cheaper and easier to replace.
The cotter pins that come with these shear pins are ridiculous. Nowhere near as good as the ones that came as spares with the snowblower. It's like no one at Sears ever tried to use these....
