Excellent Product

This spring compressor is very easy to use. In fact, I even used it to remove the rear springs (instead of using the pry bar method). They easily compressed the upgraded (stiffer) after-market springs for my 2006 Pontiac GTO. I highly recommend this tool.

Not worth the money

I used this model and it is not worth the frustration, as the threaded bolt assembly gets in the way of the top area of the strut collar and cannot use a socket wrench to to turn the bolt compressor. In doing so it damages the upper insulator, I have used many strut tools and I ended up tossing this... read full review »

Made in USA, great product and 300x better than the china crap! This was worth every penny, the tinny little ones made in china are half this price but compressing springs is not something you want to mess around with, go usa!!!

Good deal

This tool is a great deal for the price and it is very safe to use. The reason I gave 3 stars was that I wish the fingers that grab the spring were a bit longer. The short length of the fingers make it sometimes difficult to get a socket on the hex head of the bolt. If they were only a half inch longer, this would not be an issue at all. That being said, I successfully changed the strut mounts on a car where they had pulled through, which can be a bit of a challenge since the spring is free.

OK tool

It worked as a spring compressor, but I would agree with a previous review regarding the bolt head. It would interfere with my 1/2" impact wrench many times. I managed to replace all 4 shocks on my car, however, and am sure I will be able to do more. It's just a little frustrating for the price and does wear off some of the rubber on the top strut mount. The OTC spring compressor is almost twice as much but appears to have a better design (from looking at it online). I would recommend looking around some more or borrow one to test before buying.

Spring compressor

The jaws of the compressor are too big for the springs of a small car. They do not allow the upper part of the shocks to slide between them.

Easy and safe to use without complicated attachments or delicate parts.

Don't buy if you own a honda..

Do not buy this tool of you have an acura or honda, it will not work with most of their springs... The jaws are too big to fit into the spring.. Now I have to return this and buy something that works! WASTE OF TIME!

strut

This tool is simple and easy to use. It has no "extra" parts to deal with like some other models have. Also the spring clamps fit around the springs perfectlly!

I purchased this compressotr to remove a bent ************** unit that was stuck on the coil sppring/strut assembly. This USA manufactured one is built so much better than the made in China crap that bent on me. The price is well worth the knowledge that the tool wont create additional problems for you. It just does what it's supposed to do well.

The built in safety pins on this strut compressor spring is a wonderful feature.

This product makes replacing the strut not only easier but much safer.

These compressors are very stout and compact, they will fit into the tightest places. Under load there is excellent spring control and no deflection. Highly recommend

I bought these spring compressors from sears as the ones at the auto parts store looked a bit weak. These things definitely have a good be of weight to them and a LIFETIME WARRANTY! You can't go wrong when purchasing craftsman tools you need to use frequently. I've no doubt these will outlast my lifetime but the warranty backup keeps me coming back to sears over and over again.
