This is a nice addition to the already round filter on the coffee basket. It REALLY helps when coffee grounds are accidently dropped (or any other matter) in the water compartment ! Can only be used with the Kenmore 12 cup maker that makes coffee BLAZING fast! A great combo people!!!

We recieved a Cuisinart coffee pot as a wedding present and it uses this filter. Reading about the filter gave confidence in the company attempting to make a better "mouse trap". Reality though is that it is just another small piece to take up part of your mind.

This Cuisinart filter installed easily...

I love that my Kenmore coffee pot has the option to use a water filter. My coffee tastes great and I feel like I can tell a difference in the way my coffee tastes.

I've had my Cuisinart Coffee Maker for over six years and like it very much. I used the filters for one of those years, changing it every six weeks. I quit when I realized that the coffee pot sits next to my refrigerator and the refrigerator has it's own water filter. Now I fill the caraf at the despenser in the door and there is no reason to filter twice.

Whether one needs this filter is really dependent upon the quality of your water, some cities being good while others are questionable. If you live in a poor water quality area you are not going to just filter your coffee. You would need to...

Good filter

Don't get the coffee pot without the filter.

Filters aren't carried in our local Sears, but the service representative ordered them for us and they shipped directly to our home with no shipping charge. Easy to change the filter. We're happy with the product.

I've had my dcc 2000 about 4 years. Use it every day. It's excellent! I guess it's my age because after I received the news filters, it dawned on me, WHY AM I NOT GETTING THE WATER FROM THE REFRIGERATOR THAT HAS A GREAT FILTER????  So it's cold, so what!

hammerhead

The filter is hard to find and the lid pops open. After a lifetime of shopping at Sears I swore off after many product problems. I saw this coffee pot and thought I would give it one more shot, this will be my last.

Filters

I am thrilled with the performance of my coffee maker and all the features it has as well as how nice it looks in my kitchen. I have however, had the same problem as everyone else with regard to locating filters. I finally found them online. They are available for online purchase and in store pick up which will eliminate a shipping charge. They come in a 2 pack for 7.99 and the item number is #00869768000. It is difficult to find on the website without this number so I suggest writing it on your user guide if you kept it.

Nice features, but...

I didn't even get to replace the filter, because the coffee maker stopped working. No idea why...it just won't heat and pump. For those who are considering a purchase though. Filling the reservoir is difficult. It is toward the rear, and it is difficult to see where the marks are, even though they are very prominent; it's just too hard to see back there. Timer works well, and it does have a 1-4 cup button...nice touch. I understand that the filters are not available in the stores - not a nice touch. Controls are easy to use, but there are far too many "beeps" for warnings.

Bad Customer Service

It's a great idea to have a water filter, and even better that the filter improves the taste of the coffee. The problem is after spending $100.00 on a coffee maker you can't get a filter replacement locally. Very poor service, not to mention it's a bit expensive after shipping and taxes are added for such a little filter. Make sure your water is all ready is filtered or waste time and money finding a replacement filter. Very Poor Customer Service....

Replacement Filters?

After trying several different brands of coffee makers, I finally decided to give the Kenmore Coffee maker a try. I was very impressed and how fast the coffee brewed. I am disappointed however, at the difficulty finding replacement filters. I thought it would be no problem to getting them either on site or online-WRONG!! But I filter my water first anyway. Overall-I love my coffee maker.

Great Coffee Maker, Tricky Filters

I really like this coffee maker, however, the charcoal filters are a bit tricky to find. Here is the ANSWER..."Cuisinart"!!! These are the same filters that the Kenmore Elite Coffee makers use. Took me a while to figure out that everytime I looked online to buy these things, they were available for pick up with a part number department 8 part# 69768 Model DCC-RWF. If you can't find them in the stores it's because they will not say Kenmore, they say Cuisinart.

Charcoal filters

Charcoal filter seems like a good idea. After seventy uses, replace the filter. That seems simple enough, however it seems impossible to find the replacement coal filters. Retail stores do not have them and they didn't make enough of the expensive filters to keep in stock for internet orders. What gives: Don't buy coffee makers that use them
