I have been planning to purchase a thickness planer for a while. After researching various brands and models I decided to give the DW735 a try. Assembly was simple and the required tools were included, always a plus. The exhaust port was a little finicky but loosening the screws and realigning the... read full review »

While I had high hopes for this planer it let me down.  After only 15 minutes of use parts wiggled off and  the blades began to drag.  If you want more performance than a "just for fun" woodworker this is not the planer for you.  I returned mine with no hassel.

Awesome Planer!!

I have been doing woodworking for 15 years as a hobby and used many different tools.  I have used the Craftman, Delta, and grizzly planer which all worked very well, so I was apprehensive about using another brand.  The Dewalt planer delivers exceptional quality boards with no low spots on the boards that I run through the planer regardless of the wood.  I really like the fact that the blade changing is really easy.  I like the more cuts per inch feature than the older model and it has a great dust hood system.

The blades seem to wear out faster than other planers I have used.

I found this to be a great planer but live in Montana and in the winter in the cold garage the feeder rollers won't pull the wood through.  As soon and it warmed up, it worked fine.

I've had this product for about two weeks, used about 3 times. so far only on pine. works as expected and easy to use. there is some snipe but nothing detrimental. (I personaly have not ever used any planer that has no snipe) I have not bought any of the excessories avalible, like the extention in and out feed tables. Heard they help reduce the snipe, but i can't say if they will help or not. I'm sure the more I use it and get comfortable with the planer I may be able to reduce it myself. This is my first time using a planer of this size (portable), I've only used comercial large planers in past... read full review »

Good Portable Planer/Blades a detractor

I've had mine for several months now and have been pleased with overall performance. I had bad snipe until adding infeed/outfeed tables, now not a problem at all. The depth guage is very accurate, chip ejection fan works very well with a hose and a big trash can - no dust collection system needed. The finish on hard wood is very good at the slower speed (which is still a decent feed rate) and blades are easy to access. My one complaint; blades are only available in high speed steel - no carbide. Also, when I took my first pair to have them sharpened, I was told they couldn't since they are 2-sided... read full review »

Hickory, Is this stuff hard or what?

My wife wanted to re-do the kitchen cabinets in Hickory. It looked good until I needed to smooth the surface with my old Jet planer. The blades must have been dull, because she screamed trying to smooth Hickory. I checked out new planers and decided that three blades were better than two and got the DeWalt. WOW! It cut so smooth with no effort. The blower elimated chips all over the place and I only connected it to my shop vac. A suggestion on really hard woods.... Go slow and take little bites. This DeWalt did the job better than I could imagine. I have just a little sanding to finish this project.... read full review »

Strong and Stable

This dewalt planar is strong, and Snipe is a thing of the past. I am very pleased on how much Bd. Ft. I can put through before the blades were dull. The finish was also a real treat. I have run Pine, Oak, Walnut(entire tree), Maple, Cherry, Elm through the planar. I marked value down 2 stars due to the steel tables not being part of the base system. I marked Overal Rating down 1 star due to an incident with me putting the knifes in backwards, and the instructions not giving clear enough directions on the directions the blades should go in. There is one picture if you look close enough,, you can... read full review »

De Walt Planer DW735

I have just finished planing twenty 12" cypress boards ranging from eight to twelve feet long, this machine did an excellent job without any tearing of the wood or bogging down, most needed little or no sanding to be furniture grade smooth.

dewalt 735

This planer is a jewel for the serious wood worker who also needs a certain amount of portablity this unit performs very well. Its 2 speed selection and 3 knife configuration provide exceptional performance, I have mounted my dw735 on the portable miter stand dw723 (you have to support the planer on 3/4 to 1" plywood accross the complete bottom or the height adjusters will bind) with the 16 feet of support for stock you can run a lot of material through this unit on the job site or your drive way and still have a great place to run your miter saw dewalt sells extra mounts for the dw723 for about... read full review »
