“Customer service is a joke”
I bought a Dell for my church secretary's office. Tried to do it online but had a problem with the price quoted the church and the actual price, so I called. I was told that the higher price was the only one offered so I placed the order. We discussed the fact that a church is tax-free and I sent over a copy of our tax resale sheet.
The computer arrived and the invoice had added tax. I called and said that this was a tax-free purchase and that I had sent over the paperwork. Customer service could not understand the tax-free concept and said she would see that I got the correct paperwork faxed to me. I paid the entire invoice except for the tax.
Some days passes and the church received an invoice for the tax and interest on the tax. I called again to straighten out the tax situation and was told that they did not have the correct paperwork - they would fax over the correct papers for me to fill out. They sent the same paper that I had already furnished them twice.
This goes on for weeks. To make the long story short, I have now spoken with 9 people, sent 5 sets of paperwork and still do not have resolution. I even had a long discussion with a conflict resolution officer who faxed me over the same tax papers. Received another bill for the tax plus interest. The moral - Dell may be a fine computer but don't do anything out of the ordinary.
