This charger is a great product, It has brought batteries back from the dead on icy cold mornings in seconds on the rapid charge. It has enough juice to start a f350 diesel and can also keep my weekend hot rods battery charged on the trickle charge.

Worked okay for about 2 years. It quit working. Disassembled & found the high voltage diodes were bad. Tried to order new ones from Sears & direct from Die Hard, but parts are not available. Very disappointed. I will never buy another charger from Sears!

Love it so far, used it to start a car, and to charge 2 dead batteries, no problems.

Only thing was while assembling it said to use all 4 screws for the metal foot, but only 3 of the holes lined up, so got one extra screw. :)

From the description of the DieHard 2/40/200 amp Manual Battery Charger. This item is made of steel, also one fella earlier is complaining about sheetmetal screws construction (no problem!) But the product description states: "Rust-proof, shock-resistant POLYPROPYLENE CASE for extended life and safety" It goes on to describe automatic function. There is no Polypropylene on this charger. Also, there are no automatic functions; that's why it's called "manual". ========================= On to info that I wanted to see, I was trying to get a closer look at the two guages, but even when magnified... read full review »

Great product at a great price.

I bought this to recharge our RV battery. I tried other chargers to no avail, the directions stated to use a slow charge, which took a little longer but worked great (other charges which did not work, suggested a fast charge, buy **** get ****). Well worth the money, I got it on sale for $62 including tax.You can't do better anywhere.  Try customer5 at check out for an extra discount.

A lot of other major sites on the web sell similar devices, like the giant "rain forest" e-tailer, however, I chose to go with "DieHard" because I thought it was a brand that meant "quality build."  However, the construction of this $100+ product is flimsy.  The entire thing (shell, wheels, stand, handle) are all held together by cheap sheet metal screws.  Seriously, Sears?  Has this what the DieHard brand turned into?  For the price they're charging, I would expect at least bolts secured with nuts.

I'm also disappointed because for this price, it should come with automatic over-charge shutoff...

I need a reliable battery charger in my business on a daily basis, and based on my opinion of Craftsman tools, I thought this charger would be a good investment.  I unpacked it this morning and see that I should have looked more closely at the on box information.  I was overcome with the affordable price that I didn't notice the lack of features... a timer,  polarity sensing, over-charge monitering... I guess I will look before I buy next time.

After 1 day's use, I still think I got a great deal.  Charged 2 batteries and used the 200A boost to crank a boat motor.

Live saver

I had to get this because I had battery problems with my old truck.  I just never know when I will go out there and have a dead battery.  This is easy for me to hook up (I am a girl, lol).

We have had this for a few years and never had any problems with it.

IT COULD'VE BEEN BETTER, BELIEVE ME

I've owned this charger for over a year now, it works fine but whenever I use it for my truck, it takes time to recharge so I can re-start, the 200 amp jump start setting seems weak sometimes. value for the money is not bad but it's very simple in terms of interface and buttons, 2 buttons and an amperage meter, you won't go wrong trust me. as of right now i have to connect 2 of these to jump start my truck, it doubles my amperage but it's not recommended. if you are buying it for a car or a low compression engine, you should be ok, for a truck, straight job or a rig try to get a bigger one.

Battery Charger

A good, simple, battery charger for the shop. Only improvement could be a timer. Works great and versatile.
