I have 6 of the older version of this Maintainer. They have worked flawlessly for years. I have had three of the current model they last one season if you are lucky.
You can tell the difference by picking them up. The original workhorse is heavy and well built. The current one is very light and made of cheaper plastic. Save your money and buy a better unit
Bought a Diehard Battery Charger and had problems with it. When I bought the charger, the store was out on the shelf. While looking around the tool dept, I noticed a charger on the checkout desk. I asked the sales person about the charger and they said, "it's OK, it just needs to be put back on the shelf". I said OK and bought the charger. When I got home (35 miles away), the charger would not even light up, come on, do anything what so ever. I tried with the charger connected to the battery and disconnected and either way would not work. A month later, I returned the charger and the sales person...
read full review »Bought five units for different uses: two for motorcycles, one for garden tractor, one for boat, one for camper battery. One unit was defective out of the box, returned easily at Sears, except that just the ferry fare was more than the cost of the unit.
Easily installed on motorcycles with teh provided pigtails: this should be an emphasized feature. I found out about these maintainer on a motorcycle user group.
So far, so pretty good.
I purchased this battery maintainer approximately 1.5 years ago to keep a seldom used vehicle charged. I have kept it plugged into the cigarette lighter of the car all winter and the battery is dead. I will be returning this poor quality charger and buying the industry best BatteryTender. Sears just keeps sliding downhill.
Living in the state of Michigan you take certain things for granted in the winter season, including snow, ice and dead car batteries.
That's why, I 'm happy to share my review with you about the Sears Die Hard Battery that sells for around thirty dollars. It'm compact in size, but powerful in operation. The small size fits nicely in my trunk. It's a life-saver for us on those freezing days when temps are around zero and my family member's cars just don't want to turn over. It's on the top of my must have for winter surrival list!
I have a vehicle that gets driven a couple times a month, this charger/maintainer keeps the battery "hot" so I never have to worry about not starting due to a dead battery. It comes with different attachments to charge with, I really like the cigarette lighter adaptor, it allows a charge without opening the hood.
It has an easy to use switch between 6 volt/12 volt, and LED lights for charging/charged etc. Very good product!
The charger is 6 or 12V. The 6V is great for my golf cart. I use the 12V for my camper battery.
Bought this unit to replace a Battery Tender model. It works better and with its 3 lights and connections for direct to battery or 12 volt socket in the car (if it is always on).
Bought this to maintain the lawn tractor battery over the winter. Works great and is half the cost of a new battery. Have not had to recharge the tractor since. Also came in handy when I needed to replace the van's antenna and had to disconnect the radio. Plugged the charger into the cigarette lighter to maintain power to the radio and avoided setting off the anti-theft system and possibly the airbags.
Purchased the charger online for a $5 discount over in-store pricing. Overall a very good value. Recommend.
