Even though this is an expensive battery, it is supposedly made by Odyssey batteries. Odyssey batteries supplies batteries to the millitary and is known to make high quality and very reliable batteries that can withstand serious abuse. The Diehard Platinum PM-1 has similar specs as the huge Odyssey PC 2150 battery.
I'll be using this battery in a 1997 Landcruiser FZJ80 that has a winch, offroad lights, CB radio, Ham radio, laptop, GPS and the usual electronic gadgets. I also run a 12vdc Engel fridge while out camping for hours or even days, hence the purchase of this large battery. Lucky for me, the battery tray in my vehicle is large enough to accomodate it but it's wise to make sure of this little fact before purchasing a group 31 battery for your vehicle. For me, this single battery eliminates the need for a dual battery system, thereby eliminating extra wires and relays.
In the past, I've run Optima Red and Yellow Tops as well as Exide Orbital batteries but not in this particular vehicle. I'm hoping that the Platinum will out perform those other batteries by a long shot and live a long, long time!
The three year replacement warranty is important to me vs a prorated warranty typical of other batteries.
