Very disappointed with the DieHard Portable Power 1150!

DieHard Portable Power 1150 with Air Compressor, DC to AC Inverter, Outlets and Light —

I bought 4  DieHard Portable Power 1150's  for Christmas presents in 2007. One died after about 14 months; it had only been used twice. My daughter had hers about 2 years, it will no longer take a charge, she found out when she needed it the most, a dead battery in an airport parking lot coming back from a 10 day business trip late at night!

I notice the people who are writing good reviews have only had theirs a short period of time; I was happy with mine at first. Sears was no help whatsoever, replacement batteries are not available and they have no idea how to get them. I am saddened at how badly Sears has deteriorated as a company.

No stars!

Battery Replacement!!! Contrary to jeb654's review, there is a replacement battery available for the DieHard Portable Power 1150 (Model # 200.71988) from www.searspartsdirect.com (Phone #: 1-800-252-1698). As per the last page on the user manual you can order a Replacement Battery Kit: (Part # 2299001766). I ordered one today for $70 plus $13 shipping and tax. A lot less than replacing the entire unit. Unfortunately, all deep cycle rechargeable batteries have a limited life span and will need to be replaced eventually. I initially had difficulty getting the information to order the replacement battery, as I assume has been the problem with others, in that the 1150 description on the device is not the true model number. Rather the searspartsdirect website and personnel at the toll free number can locate the replacement battery only if you use the manufacturer model number (Model # 200.71988) located on the device in very small print or the part number (Part # 2299001766) for the battery kit. Hopefully this information will be of use for others searching for a replacement battery

I too had the same problem, Sears parts supports states that the batteries are on back order and may not be available until sometime in 2012.

I bought one as a backup for my boat. It failed immediately and was replaced. The second one has been used about three times and died. I would NEVER recommend this model. There are plenty other brands out there that work great.

In the back of the owners manual it has a phone # 800-SEARS-64
and the part # of the battery is 2299001766. Also you have to charge the pack at least once a month to maintain a healthy battery pack
