“Very pleased with the Dimplex CS4416”
I like this little stove a lot! There are similar products out there that sell for considerably less. But, the looks and quallity of this unit did seem considerably better when I shopped around. Also, it seems people are able to get parts and service from Dimplex in the rare case something goes wrong. The other brands seem to be disposable should you have a problem after the replacement warranty runs out and parts seem to be unavailable in most cases.
The "fire" doesn't look 100% real. Although, it really does create a wonderful atmosphere IMO. The glowing / flickering embers in the bottom logs look surprisingly real. But, all of the "flames" are behind the logs, which is really the only dead giveaway.
The heater seems to be very high quality. It puts out the maximum heat any space heater would be capable of when running on an average 15 amp household circuit. The blower is reasonably strong and pretty quiet. Only a very slight "whooshing" sound and a very faint hum can be heard if there's no TV on or music playing, etc... I don't hear any noise at all when using the fire effect without the heater. I've read reviews saying the heater isn't powerful enough or the blower isn't strong enough... But, it would be unrealistic to expect any more heat from any space heater made to be plugged into a standard outlet. The blower seems to push warm air out of the vent a little better than most central furnaces push air out of a room vent, and without making too much noise. It's not going to heat a poorly insulated room in the dead of winter by itself. No similar space heater could. It does a fantastic job of making an average room comfortable while you're in it though, allowing you to keep the house thermostat set lower. I live in an apartment building where the heat provided can be a little insufficient at times. This stove works very well to make a room toasty while I'm in it and it doesn't take very long for me to start feeling the heat. The thermostat is nice and can be set to prevent a room from getting too warm. Not all of the other stoves I looked at had a thermostat. The remote is also nifty, even though it's simpy "on" and "off". It's been reliable and the stove has never turned itself on or off. The thermostat and heat or no heat options must be controlled by the controls on the back of the heater though.
I ordered this particular model because it seemed to have cleaner lines and looked like it might "blend" better than most of the other models I looked at in a room with a more modern decor. It did work out very nicely and I would definitely recommend this model for rooms where some of the others might look more out of place.
