LockedKENMORE ELITE / LEAKING

we have a 2 Yr old Kenmore Elite Dishwasher that just started leaking.

it has been working fine and we even had a preventive maintenance performed about 2 weeks ago. This past Saturday we noticed some water leaking from the bottom.

Any advice?

Nucciopal -- Was it only leaking when the dishwasher is running? Can you tell where the leak is coming from? Is it a little trickle of water or something more significant? If it's a trickle, it's possible one of the seals came unseated, so you're getting a slight trickle. Take a look around the door on the washer -- there should be a rubber gasket. Is that fully seated and showing no signs of deterioration?

unfortunately I'm not near the dishwasher right now so I can't check the seal.

it is leaking only when it's running and it seems to be coming from the front at the very bottom but is a bit more than a slight trickle...

We have a service plan and the earliest they can send a tech is feb.17!...

I had the same leak issue with my last dishwasher (a GE) and it was a bad seal.

It sounds like a bad seal. They can be tricky -- if you catch one with a knife or other sharp piece of cutlery it can tear. Which means no more seal. Take a look inside around the area the water seems to be coming from. It could just be that the gasket came unseated or is ripped. Let us know what you find!

Feb 17th isn't too far away, but I definitely feel your pain. You might be able to patch the seal with duct tape in the meantime, assuming that's what the problem is.

thank you Paula. Were you able to fix it yourself or did you have a tech. repair it?

We ended up just replacing the dishwasher as it was a very basic model and very loud.  I never liked it to begin with but it came with the house.

If the water in the tub is very foamy  (like bubble bath) you can have a leaking rinse aid dispenser, too much rinse aid leaking into the tub will cause excess foaming and leak out the bottom of the door.
