LockedWhy is the compactor SO LOUD??

I've had this Kenmore trash compactor since we moved into the house 10 years ago.  It's great but it's getting LOUDER...Is there any preventative maintenace that I can perform?

Also, I've noticed that the compactor deodorizing liquid isn't dispensing anymore.  Do you think it's worth it to replace the receptable parts or just put in an air freshener instead?

Check the gears and the chain for signs of wear.

Parts direct will show you the cost of replacement parts, using the machine's long model number.

Is it not dispensing because it fails to operate properly, or because the container is empty?

I've heard of crazier things (I had someone who didn't know the bag in a vacuum would fill up, and the vacuum wouldn't suck anymore if it was full!).

Yaa...

You put on a NEW bag and clear out the almost hopelessly clogged hoses and plumbing and that dust thing clears right up!
