Our kenmore (8-10 years old) disposer has suddenly become extremely loud when turned on. Still grinds but the vibration and noise is over the top not normal. Any ideas? Am willing to buy a new one but would rather not obviously.

Inappropriate?

Is it when it's turned on, or when it's on and "eating" that it makes excessive noise? What's the model number? Or, failing that, what's the horsepower rating?
