Dodge Grand Caravan - 2007 —
Well let me first tell everyone I never, ever thought I would buy a "rental" car for family use. Here's how it went down. At my credit union, I was talking to a VP and mentioned that I was in the market for a family car either new or used but wanted to save money. The VP told me about a program they arranged with Enterprise Rental where the credit union members get a car below Kelly Book and the credit union will finance 100% of the price. With this information, I did my research looking for a minivan which would satisfy my criteria of safety, features, fuel economy, engine power, and repair reputation. At Enterprise there have all makes and styles. I searched for a couple of weeks and found a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT with a 3.8 liter engine (which I wanted) and full power (everything). List price was $28,500 and the Kelly book value was $21, 450. Both of those prices were quite high but with this program, there is no negotiation ... the sticker on the car is what you pay. This vehicle's sticker price was $14,999 ... WOW!!! I drove the minivan and was very impressed but I wanted to see the 105 point inspection report Enterprise talks about. No problem, they showed me the report and I also asked & received a CarFax report on the vehicle. Everything checked out! I even let a mechanic check it out and he was totally impressed with the condition of this car and couldn't believe the price. He told me if I didn't want it for myself, I should buy it and he would sell it for $20,000!Needless to say, I purchased the minivan and can report it has taken my family on many trips ... most recently a 12 day stay in Canada. You get the remainder of the factory warranty. If this is any indication of the quality of cars Enterprise sells then I'm hooked from now on. Enterprise shows how they only sell 5% of their fleet ... the other 95% are sold at auction. Very happy with quality, value, fuel economy, safety and comfort!
