I have used Dremel tools in years past and they have performed very well. I specifically bought this item to do detail sanding in small areas. It works very well, is very simple to use and got the job done. I did have a problem with the switch. Every now and then it would not turn on. I had to keep...

too expensive to replace blades

I have owned this tool for over a year, and haven't used it for almost a year. Why? Because the blades don't last at all, and are too expensive. Try cutting thru a nail with the metal blade, and it is shot. One blade actually broke apart on its spot welds in less than 3 seconds of use. Yes, the blade...

Very Happy

I have used this tool for several tasks and it has performed as advertised.  It is quite handy for tasks like cutting out a clean hole to receive hardware for a deadbolt or removing a single layer of sheathing like 1/4 plywood without damaging the backup material.  Works perfectly for these kinds quirky tasks that are hard to do with other tools.

Gift for Dad

An item on my Dad's Christmas list & he hasn't put it down since he opened it. He mentioned that its easy to use & functioned in every way he hoped. I will probably end up getting one for myself.

Great little tool that does suprisingly well on cuts in wood and metal and even ceramic. Have used it to cut out broken piece of molding and replace without hving to take molding of wall, cut off nails that were poking out of bookcase. removes grout with ease, replaced broken floor tile in a half hour without breaking any other tiles or a sweat.

Biggest con is the cost of blades but with a tool this useful you get your money's worth out of it in little time. overall a joy to use and own.

What did we do before?

I used each included attachment on the first job I tried with this magical tool. I wanted power over cordless convenience and so far it has been up to the task. It does get warm with extended use and was noisier than I expected, but at the rate it is oscillating that is to be expected.

I had a difficult repair and needed to essentially reconstruct as a puzzle. The Multi-Max makes such a small kerf that it was easy to construct from one piece of wood (3/4 plywood).

There are some constraints in what can be reached but the ability to rotate the blade(s) to different positions helps. I needed a...

This was a Christmas gift for my husband. He has other Dremel products and saw the commercial for this item on TV. They should not consider 3 different types of sandpaper as 3 different attachments. The commercial leads one to believe that all of the attachments come with it. He really wanted this so that is what he got. He has a number of projects to work on and I will make a note of the rec's made in the other reviews.

This tool was recommended to me by my brother-in-law as a good tool for use in putting down wood floors.  After reading a few other disappointing reviews, I was almost scared away from buying it.  I bought it anyway.  I am glad I did.  I bought it for the purpose of cutting the bottoms of door facings so the wood floor would go under them.  For the purpose of cutting the door facings, it worked great.  It cut neat, straight lines, and it was very easy to control.  The tool will run a little hot when it's run for a long period of time, but it's not so hot that it can't be held like other...

I purchased the Dremel Multi Tool after seeing it advertised on TV. Now I generally don't buy into the hype that advertisers create, but I could think of a few handy uses for this tool. I used it to cut out baseboards, sand rough spots, and trim up the frame on a prehung door. I agree that the blade fails quickly if you use it for any metal cutting, but the rest of the job could not have been easier without it. Every cut was clean, the tool is easy to use, and it's size and shape is great for tough spots. If you buy this tool for wood or drywall projects I am sure you will love it. If you need...

I was skeptical about the Oscillating Tool being just another gimmick.  I was very wrong!!  I've used it to cut a cupboard frame for shortening and cutting base boards for installing new linoneum in bathrooms.  It was quick and easy as long as you allow it to do the work; don't force it to cut.  The variable speed feature really helps on differing wood types.

The only issue I have is the cost of the replacement blades.  That is another good reason to refrain from forcing the cut.  That is especially true with the circular shaped blade, there is no offset to the teeth to get a non-binding...

good but pricey accessories

It is an excellent well made tool. The only draw back that I didnt realize how much extra blades are. The blades for the craftsman are much more reasonable.

The Dremel Multi-Max is a small hand-held oscillating power tool.  This new group of cutting tools vibrate instead of rotating.  I have used this tool in my handy-man business for the better part of a year now.  The tool claims to cut a variety of material concluding soft metal.  What impresses me the most is the ability to cut molding and casting, while still on the wall, with no damage to the surrounding surfaces.  One customer, who gave me a nice tip, could not believe how neatly I removed a small piece of molding to access a phone wire.

            The tool comes with...

I was very happy with the Multi-Max until I went to replace the metal cutting blade. I made 2 cuts in 1/2 in copper tube and the metal blade was shot! That's about $8.00 per cut, next time I'll use my teeth. The Multi-Max is now a great paper weight.
