This just happened to me. I had to wait all day for the repair guy only to find out I needed a new motor. By the way, customer service calls are now answered in India, so you can't get them to narrow down the repair person's estimated arrival time. Plan to wait at the house all day from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The Kenmore dryer was 13 years old. The service call was $69. The cost of the motor would be $350. I think I'll probably just get a new dryer, but I am hesitant to buy from Sears because the customer serivce in India is actually incapable of offiering customer service. They just offer platitudes.
