Is the dryer set to a timed cycle or moisture sensing?

If its an old model, the relay may have failed

It Does not make a differance where the setting is.

I replaced the thermal fuse p/n 3390719 and the motor relay p/n 3405281, but the dryer does the same thing any other ideas the dryer is about 5 years old.

what is the model #? on some models there is a printed circuit board right next to the timer, I think they call it a dryness board that causes the problem you are describing.

what is the model # ? on some dryers with the problem you are describing there is a circuit board next to the timer called a dryness detector board if your model has that part it is where I would look.

I'm having the same problem with my Kenmore Elite model 110.70952

I'm getting ready to tear off the top; I expect to find something jammed between

the tub and the belt, possibly a severely frayed belt.  When mine shuts off (a few seconds) it seems to try to start but can't.

Although frayed, belt does not seem to be the problem.  One tub pulley turns reluctantly; all others are free turning.  Pulled the pulley, appears the spindle has over-heated and may be warped.  Other than cleaning, I see no other culprits.

I'll attempt to clean and emory the spindle to a servicable size and put it back together (hopefully).

I have the same dryer, with the same problem. OF COURSE, it is 2 months out of warranty, so no one from sears will be coming to fix it. Fact of the matter is Sears sells junk and they have poor customer service. This is the third appliance I have bought that has broke just out of warranty(extended warranty) and I will never buy from there again.

Just curious: what product WOULD you buy, and from whom would you buy it?

I understand that appliances break. Nothing is made like it use to be. Everything is mass produced and made cheaply, so it can be sold at a cheap price. I've been reading around on this site and I'm not the only one who has about had it with Sears and the junk they sell! So to answer your question,  the next product I apparently have to buy...is a DRYER! And where will I buy it? ANYWHERE BUT SEARS!
