“It isn't the amount - it is the SIZE!!”
Dyson DC14 Complete, Purple —
I received this vacuum in October of 2006 as a gift to myself. I have always hated carpet - especially carpet that has had previous owners! When we first moved in, my cats were inside. I realized that I was having constant headaches and I narrowed it down to my cats and the amount of dust that is produced in a short period of time in the house. I had seen the commercials for the Dyson and thought I should give it a try, but after I saw the price, I knew it was out of reach. I few months later, my $150 vacuum broke at the ripe age of 2 years. I did the math and since I was basically having to buy a new vacuum ever 2 years at $150 a pop - this was actually reasonable - especially if it really doesn't lose suction. The first time I used the vacuum, I was slightly disappointed because I did my couch first with upholstery tool. I thought it hadn't picked up anything until I looked REALLY close and saw there was a LOT of clay/silt size stuff (about 3/4 of an inch actually) on the bottom of the cannister - all of this from ONE COUCH!! I have emptied my old vacuum lots of times but have never seen anything so small!! That sold me. I did the rest of the house over the next couple of days and had to empty every 1.5 rooms. My house was disgusting!! No I don't have the dust problem I had before - I actually use the dusting brush to get all of the loose dust off of everything - great for all of the grooves in the television, etc. and then wet dust the spots. The tools were a little hard to use at first - I had the hardest time trying to figure it out, but when you press the big purple button on the front, it takes care of everything. I haven't found one that I didn't find useful for something. The dusting tool and the low reach tool are my favorites. The color is great. I have left mine out when company comes in and they are impressed about how hi-tech it looks. The purple isn't overwhelming, just enough to give the grey/silver a show of color. I highly recommend this vacuum to say the least! It is the best $400 I ever spent for my health and my piece of mind!!Dyson DC14 Complete, Purple
