This is a wonderful vaccum. It picks up every little piece of dirt without losing any suction. It is however a liitle expensive but well worth it. I will never own any other brand of vaccum.

I received this vacuum in October of 2006 as a gift to myself. I have always hated carpet - especially carpet that has had previous owners! When we first moved in, my cats were inside. I realized that I was having constant headaches and I narrowed it down to my cats and the amount of dust that is produced in a short period of time in the house. I had seen the commercials for the Dyson and thought I should give it a try, but after I saw the price, I knew it was out of reach. I few months later, my $150 vacuum broke at the ripe age of 2 years. I did the math and since I was basically having... review »

I have been through so many vacuums it isn't funny. I have 5 messy kids and a dog and live on a dirt road. I was going through at least 3 vacuums a year. They would clog up, break belts, or just break down on me. I tried everything from buying more expensive vacuums to cheap ones and I even bought a vacuum to clean my vacuum! It was insane. So I kept seeing advertisments for Dyson and kept thinking it was probably a nother piece of expensive junk that would break down on me. I didn't think it was possible to get a vacuum that didn't clog up. Anyway I decided to try it because for 5 years if it... review »

I was in desperate need of a GOOD vacuum. I go through about two a year. Dirt Devils, Hoovers, Bissells; you name it I have bought it. I have three kids in my house and they track in everything imaginable. I thought long and hard about this purchase. I surveyed my family to see what they thought and of course, they said $500 for a vacuum, you are NUTS! Well, it took about a year or so to get up the nerve to make the bold purchase. I was afraid to tell anyone. I brought it home and swore my sister to secrecy. It took about two minutes to put together. It was that easy! Trust me. This is coming from... review »

Before I got the Dyson, I had an Oreck. I love the fact that I see all the dirt and hair that the Dyson is picking up and getting out of the carpet. I have two dogs and they shed and the Dyson has all the features and attachments I need to clean the carpets and furniture. This is a great vacuum and I would recommend it over and over.

I just purchased this "awesome" vaccum cleaner as a gift to myself on June 11/07. I have been using an electrolux for many years and always thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. I have a small dog which does not shed but also have a cat & as you know they shed allot. I had vaccumed my carpets on June 10/07 with the electrolux & have been contemplating about purchasing the Dyson for about 1 1/2 months. So needless to say I did buy it & started vaccuming shortly after we put it together. Well, it was about 8:30 p.m. when I tackled the living room with my new piece of equipment & I was... review »

My old Kenmore was on its last leg so I started shopping for a new one online. I read a lot of reviews on many vacuums. I was debating between this one and the Bissel, which seems to have similar qualities and a lower price. After much debating, I chose the Dyson because the filter NEVER needs replacing and seemed like anyone who owned one had yet to complain about it, other than the price. :P Though it's the best vacuum I ever owned, I rated it a "4" mostly because there are a few minor "downs" to it, at least for me: while it's lightweight and glides real well over any surface, it makes an awful... review »

Hello I just bought this vacuum and LOVE it. I brought it home and put it together and vacuumed the first night of having it at home. After reading how everyone else vacuumed with their old vacuum and then with the Dyson and it picked up more, I guess my old vacuum did a good job as not much really was pulled up from the carpets and I have 1 big dog, 1 cat and a grandson that lives with us and my daughter comes over almost everyday. So I was surprised not a whole lot really came up the first time but as I keep vacuuming I still get quite a bit. The one thing I can say is I actually see the lines... review »

I live in a Early American reproduction home with 100 year old wide plank pine flooring. In between many of the planks are gaps which, although adding to the character of the house, are very difficult to keep clean. Before the Dyson came along, I swept my floors on my hands and knees with an attachment on my Hoover Wind Tunnel, because I could not find a sweeper that would do hard floors. It worked OK on the carpeted areas, but not as well as I wished. After trying (with no luck or suction) the Hoover Floor Mate, I was at a loss as to what I could do to clean my floors. My husband came home... review »

I was bound and determined to buy a new dyson, I mean with the advertisement of them, you would think they would suck the carpet right off the floor itsself. I am coming from what I consider a nice Hoover WindTunnel bagged vacuum with the light sensor when it detects dirt. I have had it for 5 years now with no problems and I thought why not get a new vacuum that claims what it does, thus the reason I went and bought the Dyson DC14. I wanted to know what this thing could really do compared to my Hoover. So I set out and cleaned a 8x8 section of carpet with my hoover until the sensor light for dirt... review »

I purchased my Dsyon after going through several vacuums that would start out great and then either start to smell dirty or have other problems. The first time I used it, I was amazed at how much fine "silt" the Dyson picked up. I had just vacuumed the living area with my old vacuum, so I really didn't have anything sitting on the top of the carpet, this was all coming from down deep. With 3 kids and a dog, there is always a need to vacuum, and I am always amazed at how much gets picked up. The tools are easy to use and it works well on bare floors, unlike my previous bagless cleaner that had... review »

I've been hesitant to purchase a Dyson for a long time because of the high price point. However, I replace my 'less expensive' vacuums every year or so, so I figured I'd bought a couple Dysons by now! I finally bought one when I saw that they had a 5 year warranty. It's like paying $100 a year for a vacuum guaranteed to never lose suction! After I got it home, I had to vacuum right away! I had used my bissell earlier that day and was shocked to see what the Dyson picked up! I have a dog, two cats, and two kids, and it just did a wonderful job. My carpet looks almost new, and when I steam... review »

We had been looking for a new quality vacuum for close to 1 year. After reading reviews after reviews for vacuums in our $500.00 range we set, we decided to purchase an Oreck based upon the positive reviews it got and it's cost. We wanted to get a Dyson but pricing pushed us to Oreck. Once we got the Oreck and used it and used it we found that it was less than what the reviews had said about it. It was not user friendly due to having to use a whole different set-up just to vacuum corners, sofas, drapes etc. among other factors, so we decided to purchase a Dyson on our sears card and try it out... review »

About every 2-3 years, we need a new vacuum! I was thrilled when I saw the first commercial for Dyson and have wanted one ever since! I finally broke down and bought this one after our other vacuum stopped sucking! I compared it to the other Dyson models and read the reviews. After reading 13 reviews, (only ONE was negative and that one didn't even explain why they didn't like it), I decided that I would get this one. I like that it comes with the tools; most models don't have tools included. I used the Dyson in just our hallway and was ASTOUNDED at the dirt that came up from our floor! Our other... review »

I had a Kenmore canister for 8 years, and decided to splurge on a Dyson, but I will be returning it because although its GREAT at picking up dust and dirt, it is not fun to use. It's very heavy and bulky, and doesn't get under anything - including the toekicks of the kitchen cabinets. The hose is very long, but very stiff and difficult to use without banging into things and I couldn't get it to reach 17 feet without a LOT of effort. Basically I was exhausted after vacuuming with this. I loved seeing all the dirt and dust that it picked up, and it really picked up a lot, but its just too much trouble... review »
