Dyson DC24 All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner (Model 14549-01) Reviews

This is a great machine and would have gotten 5 stars except for a few minor details.  I bought it because it was the only vacuum that I could find that has an easy to remove brush.  One quarter turn with a penny on the underside and the brush slides out, no rubber belt no screws no hassle.  I have to cut the hair off of my brush every week and I have tried 4 styles/brands over the years all drove me nuts. 
The negatives are it has an irritating high pitch whine and the cord is short.  Another 5 feet and I could get my whole room.  I am having to find new accessible outlets.  Also the unit...

Pros:

Very easy to move around corners and twist sideways.

Light weight.

Compact.

Cons:

Costs much more than most vacuums of a similar size.

Not very powerful suction using hose (with or without attachment).

Not very many attachments included.

Not as wide as I am used to.

Container needs emptied often because it is small.

Other thoughts:

It does have a reasonably good warranty and it cleans my floors well.

We purchased the Dyson DC24 Upright vacuum cleaner today.  We were attracted to this unit from various TV ads.  A close inspection revealed a well designed product, with all attachments readily available, lite weight, and easy disposal of waste.  upon returning home, we tested the unit and were very pleased with the ball-turning design and the excellent suction power.  We were a bit confused with the absence of a lever to change from bare floors to shag carpeting but learned to turn off the beater bar when the carpeting is too heavy (per your instructions in the fine print).  So far we have...

Looks great and does a bang up job with picking up fine particles. Wood floors had to be repaired in my home, and the workers were sloppy and got wood dust every where. The DC24 got dust out of the sofas that I had not seen. It is not as big as my animal dyson- but is perfect for a small home or apartment- and seems just as powerful as the animal. I love sears price protection and this is why I will go out of my way to buy from sears.

First off - I love this vacuum. It's compact, lightweight, the handle compresses so storage is a snap, 5 year warranty, and it looks great (the orange is very cool). My complaint, much like other reviews, is that the DC24 lacks the power for moderate to heavy jobs. I own a home and have a large dog, so I am vacuuming 2 - 3 - 4 times a week as I am somewhat of a neat freak... but even with the frequent vacuuming (meaning the carpets are never super dirty) I found myself spending a LOT of time vacuuming...

After reading reviews on several different types of vacuums, I decided to give the Dyson DC24 a try.  Wow, was I very impressed and pleased. 

The Dyson wasn't too difficult to assemble and the instructions were clear and easy to understand.  The cord was nice and long allowing me to clean a large area at a time.  The suction and cleaning ability of the Dyson was incredible.  I had to empty the lint cannister after vacuuming each room, proving the quality of the Dyson compared to my previous vacuum.  The Dyson did a great job on each type of floor surface: tile, hardwood, and carpet. ...

I loved the suction of this vacumm absolutely picked up everything from my carpet. Easy to clean and durable. Didn't have to go over my rugs several times just the one quick motion and it was spotless. The Dyson ball makes this vacuum easier to handle than any other vacuum I've used.

Vacuum works great for a 1,100 sq ft condo, totally lives up to expectations. Lightweight and maneuverable, the quality of the design and construction is obvious. Extremely fast order fulfillment and shipping by Sears: had the vaccuum four days after placing order.

I love the Dyson vacuums. This is our second one. It cleans like no other. The only thing I would like is a little longer cord. I miss the extra length my older model Dyson had.

I had used the same vacuum for 20 years and thought it was fine. A belt broke one Sunday day and the place to buy one was closed. I needed to vacuum because we were having a party that night so we went to buy a new one (since the old one was 20 years old) I bought this Dyson and am VERY pleased. It's amazing how much dirt it picks up! I thought my old vacuum was doing a good job until I used this Dyson. Love it!

This little Dyson stopped me in my tracks in Sears the other day.  As my husband pointed out, "it's just your size."  Well, it might be small, but it's mighty (like me).  I can't believe how much dirt and pet hair this vacuum has picked up.  I used to hate the chore of vacuuming the house with my old canister, but it's actually fun with this little guy.  The container fills up quickly, but it's so easy to empty that it doesn't matter.  There must have been a lot of dirt left behind by the old canister model because I pick up so much every time I use this one.  It's lightweight and so easy...

I think that this vaccuum is great. It picks up stuff real good and its easy to move around a room. If you're thinking about buying it, it definitely works, but would you be willing to pay the price for it? It's definitely more on the expensive side.
