I have a 6 month old granddaughter and a long haired dog. I had a professional vacuum cleaner that had pretty good suction but after I would clean with it, put a blanket down for the baby to lay and play on, she would still get several dog hairs on her. We would find them in her diaper and up under her...

I guess I'm spoiled.  I've owned Kirby and Rainbow products in the past so when we purchased the Dyson Animal it just didn't rate.  Rather pathetic in most aspects.  My husband affectionately refers to it as my "Barbie Vac."  We have carpet and wood floors.  It's only enjoyable feature is the easy...

I am very pleased with this machine. I am tired of replacing my other vacuums every couple of years, belts every month and filters. I hope this one lasts longer for the money! I love the suction and cleaning. Emptying the canister is super simple and there is no filter to brush or clean with each empty. I have 2 cats and a golden retriever, so lots of hair, and this did a great job on both the carpet and tile floors.

The one thing I do not care for is the wand. The suction is so great that it is difficult to keep the hose extended and it takes a lot of effort to use the hose. Of course,...

I was hesitant about spending this much money on a vacuum, but it was completely worth it! This Dyson has sucked up so much hair, dust, and dirt, it's kind of disgusting! I love how it seems to suck up everything. It is easy to empty and clean. I really like the fact that you can take the bottom part off and easily get the hair off of the roller. It really was a great purchase! I did mark on my cons that the wand takes time to get used to it, but I wouldn't necessarily say that's a reason to pass on this vacuum. Like any new device, you have to learn how to work it. That said, I highly recommend... read full review »

Dyson makes the best vacuum cleaner. Period. In my 20+ years of being a homeowner and clean freak, I've had a Kenmore and Hoover vacuums. They never did the job as well as the Dyson, and died at a young age. My first Dyson was a DC07, and I used it on everything. The attachments and wand were easy to use. I really beat this machine. After 7 years the hoses started to split, but Dyson sells replacements. I upgraded to the DC28 because Sears had a great sale and I knew I would not be disappointed. The improvements Dyson has made are awesome! The wand is easier to use, as are the attachments.... read full review »

Dyson Animal Vacuum- this is my second Dyson vac. I love them! I bought the original 5 or 6 years ago and loved it every week since. It was easy to use and did a great job. My daughter wanted one and was looking at the Animal from Dyson. It didn't fit in her budget. I knew how bad she wanted it though and decided that I would buy the "Animal" version and she could have my "original" Dyson! The day I got mine, I shipped her my old one and her husband was home when UPS dropped it off. By the time she got home from work he had vacuumed the entire house! He loved it! Couldn't believe the job it did.... read full review »

Excellent machine!

This machine is spectacular! It is my second Dyson and I decided to go with the pet version since we have a dog and two cats now. It works beautifully on picking up pet hair and anything else that is on the carpet. Improvements have been made in the design of this machine compared to my old one. I know some reviewers have said the accessory wand hose is cumbersome, but this new design is superior to the old one, and I find it much easier to use. All you do is pull the extension wand straight up out of the hose and now you can clean a typical height ceiling. In the old machine you had to remove... read full review »

I bought Dyson DC28 Animal about a month ago. I was very hestitant on the cost, I had never paid that much for a vacuum. But after having it, I am so happy with my purchase. All the vacuums I've had in the past never seemed to keep their suction and the filters always got plugged up. This one has washable filters and never loses its suction even with having 3 dogs. It will be great for pollen seasons and all of us having allergies. The warranty is also a plus. Buying it at Sears makes it so easy if I ever need to use the warranty. great piece of mind! I love my Dyson!

Great vacuum

We have three dogs which means a house full of fur and this vacuum takes care of the work.  We can run the entire house without loss of power and this is the first machine we have found that can do this. The accessory wand and hose is awkward to use but I think it will get better as the hose gets broken in.

A little on the pricey side and hard to find a deal but Sears had one so we were able to take advantage and got a great vacuum for a great price.

Yes, this machine is pricey, but it is worth every penny. "Animal" is a great title for this machine. If you have pets, this vacuum is a must have. We have two dogs (German Shepherds), and three cats. Our pets are our family, so they spend a lot of time indoors. Until I got this vacuum (my old vacuum finally took a dump), I never realized just how much hair and dirt the old vacuum was missing. It pulls up so much hair and dirt EVERYTIME, and my carpets look great. It even pulls up the nap of the carpet in higher traffic areas where it has been smashed down. I really cannot say anything... read full review »

First-time Dyson Owner

After careful analysis of customer reviews online and testing vacuums in stores, I found the Dyson D28 Animal Upright to be the better purchase. Although I have been committed to Kirby and Hoover vacuums over the years, lately, I haven't found Hoover to be the best company & product overall. Kirby (and other more expensive, yet, reputable companies) is simply too expensive.

So, you must be thinking, "Then why did you choose a pricey Dyson?" Dyson is not cheap, yet, the company (in addition to their relationship and commitment with Sears) will probably be easier to work with in the event of a...

Ok.. I have a Kirby vacuum that I have swore by.. The only thing is I keep snagging the bags on my furniture and ripping them therefore dusty house! I have seen all the commercials about the Dyson.. I have wanted one for a while. I researched and read tons of reviews.. I have carpet and tile, 2 teens and a big black lab all in the house. The ball technology seems to only be good for houses with NO carpet so I went with the Dyson DC28 Animal Upright Vacuum Cleaner. I came home and vacuumed with the Kirby, then with the Dyson. I thought I was going to be sick.. The Dyson sucked up so much dog hair... read full review »

First a confession: For years we have written the Dyson product line off as a gimmick, sounds too good to be true, thought it was just a vacuum that someone marketed in a way to price higher.  Now we've owned this for six months and clearly see that we were wrong.

This thing is uber-powerful.  Its not just that you can see what it is picking up, you can see and feel the difference in the carpet.  In fact it is so powerful that you have to be careful on area rugs - this thing will rub them out.  Our area rugs have a tighter nap, so the stair tool works great and doesn't break them down.

The...

This is the best vacuum ever! It cleans wonderful, I owned a dyson 07 before had it for 7 years before it quit on me. I really liked it but wanted an an adjustable brush bar. The animal offers this with fingertip controls and easier release handle, the only reason I gave it a 4 is I wish it had a longer hose like my old one and had a place for all the tools that comes with it, very minimal inconvience compared to how it works. My carpets look better then before, has that fresh shampoo look.

Dyson Animal

Wow, it really sucks, in a good way! I was a bit apprehensive as I have never spent this much on a vacuum, It cost more than my solid oak queen size canopy bed! When I got it home, I started vacuuming my living room carpet, I had only vaccumed about a 1/4 of it before I had to empty out the canister! My carpet didn't look too bad to begin with but I managed to get close to 5 canisters of dirt and cat hair out of a pretty modest size living room. I was a mix between thrilled at how much it got out, and disgusted that I has been walking on all that filth. I did go over the carpet more than once,...
