I guess I'm spoiled. I've owned Kirby and Rainbow products in the past so when we purchased the Dyson Animal it just didn't rate. Rather pathetic in most aspects. My husband affectionately refers to it as my "Barbie Vac." We have carpet and wood floors. It's only enjoyable feature is the easy removal and disposal of the bagless debris. It takes me three times as long to vac a room as it did with our old Rainbow. But I don't miss the yucky H2O of the Rainbow... It is alot lighter in weight than the Kirby, but I miss the overall effectiveness of the heavier unit. I would not recommend this unit to anyone, especially those who have shedding pets. I do like the purple color though.

We own two vacuum cleaners, a Kenmore and the new Dyson. While the Kenmore is excellent, it costs a lot to change HEPA filters. The Dyson works at least 55% better than the Kenmore, and the filters are easily washed. It makes owning my German shepherd dog (or German shedder, as they're also known) a pleasure, and the dog does not have to sneeze all the time because he breathes in his own hair! My son bought me this sweeper for Christmas. It is lightweight, but it picks up and cleans wonderfully. It is easy to maneuver and easy to empty out.

It did cost quite a bit, but it does the job!

I absolutely adore this sweeper. It constantly amazes me how much it picks up. Even when my floor doesn't look dirty, the sweeper picks up a whole canister full of nasty things! This is the most fantastic sweeper I have ever used. It is absolutely worth the money....

I absolutely love my Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner! If you are going to spend the money, especially on a Dyson, get this one - even if you don't have pets. I vacuumed with my old vacuum, then the Dyson, and picked up a bunch more dirt. It will be well worth the money spent.

Brought the first vacuum home from Sears and the wand stem was broken. Returned to the store the same day and brought home a new one. The new vacuum cleaned the carpets very well. The wand attachment was cumbersome to use as it pulls the rest of the vac with you. A solution for that was to stretch the hose while someone else holds the vacuum. After three weeks the brush on the roller stopped turning . Called Dyson customer service. They offered to fix or said I could take it back to Sears and get an exchange. We decided to return the vacuum to Sears because it was still under 30 days and not get another one. Sears was great about both returns. Ended up buying an LG 400t....

Love it love it love it- light weight, easy to use on the stairs and does it pick up everything...especially the dog hair. We have a 7 lb Pom mix. He weighs 7 lbs & sheds at least 6 lbs of fur a day & this vac gets it all. I do wish it had more tool options that came standard. I would like a better crevase tool & I wish the telescoping wand had a longer flex hose. It is a wee bit akward at times. But over all this vac is better than anything else I have used. I have had the vac 2 years now....

After 2 months it did not work right and ripped up my floor. It's been 6 months now and Sears says it can't do anything and Dyson says it's not the machine. I have a list of calls a page and half long between Sears and Dyson. I have photos, video, letters. Now Dyson wants to say it the repair Sears did that was defected and not the machine. Thats a little hard to believe since it is sent out to the certified Dyson repair in Long Island, NY, I did not bring it in for repair until October and I contact them about the problem in July, and Sears also contacted them regarding the problem they say was caused in October by the repair. Don't buy it is really is not worth the money. I have to say I wish I would have just bought the Shark in the first place its less money, over $300.00 less, lighter, and easyer to handle....

It picks up all the dirt! Its crazy because I never thought my carpet was that dirty after shampooing the carpet with a rented proffessional vacuum a week before I purchased the Dyson and used it my carpet. I guess its just that strong!

So I purchased this $600 vacuum Jan 2011. July 2011, vacuum doesn't want to tilt back...took the vacuum to a Dyson recommended service center, Aug 2011, got the vacuum back, but now the power light keep flickering & the vacuum refuses to work (spinning head & suction). Vacuum goes back to service center. Nov 2011, vacuum is still in service center so I called Dyson & complained. Dyson said they will send a new vacuum to me as soon as they receive my vacuum. Dyson received my vacuum Nov 9, 2011 & today, Nov 28, 2011...I still have no vacuum.... What a waste of $600. I have never had a problem with a cheaper vacuum...just return to store & get a new one. Dyson, store won't take return & Dyson repair center cannot fix it, & Dyson's customer service is horrible. Overall, I do not recommend this vacuum. The repair center said this vacuum needs a recall since he had 6 in stock with the same electrical problem. Dyson refuses to acknowledge this & said there are no problems...

I love it. We had a Kirby and it wasn't very good for dog hair. When I got the dyson we first vacuumed with the Kirby then went over the carpet again with the dyson to see the difference. The amount of hair the dyson picked up was amazing. I also love that I don't have to worry about buying bags all the time. It's also great for my stairs. All in all I this vacuum is awesome!...

After much research on bagless vacuums, I purchased the Animal to help manage the fluffy light hair of a Golden Retriever. We have a one story, 1200 sq foot home with concrete flooring and oriental rugs. As advertised, this is an amazing vacuum for its ability to suck up dirt and pet hair. My old vacuum was sub-standard so it was no surprise that the Animal could pick up as much hair as it did on its first try. The floor attachments are great. The one for the bare floor has alot of suction and the head is maneuverable to be able to get under furniture. The small rotating brush attachment was helpful under the dining room table where the rug collects hair and dirt unreachable with the big vacuum. The on-board attachments are easy to place and remove on the machine. On the downside, this is truly powerful. I have to use two hands to move the machine forward over the oriental rugs. The return is easier. The wand is nice though it takes some practice to unleash the long hose so you can ergonomically...

This is our second Dyson and I'll never buy another again. All the "improvements" to the DC28 have ruined the vacuum. It is constantly loosing suction and will just stop working. The problem seems to be in the beater bar sensors. My husband uses his compressor to blow it out. It will work for a few days and then troubles begin again. Trying to get through to their "Customer Service" is a joke. I've spent nearly 2 hours total trying to get through and never did get to talk to someone. Please don't waste your money.

I have owned multiple Dyson vacuums in the past. I used versions meant for much smaller spaces in my 3,000 square foot home and they lasted years longer than I expected. This vacuum is amazing! My King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, white American short-hair, and wire-haired Fox Terrier are given a run for their money. No longer does hair rule my home. This vacuum is everything it promises to be. After hours of research this was the cheapest I could find it. I do not regret my purchase at all.

After having a DC07 for 11 years, I was trilled to "upgrade" to the DC28. What a mistake. So many "improvements" have ruined what Dyson was all about. A simple powerful machine is now a heavy vac that does not have half the power of the old machine. Attachments are cheap and do nothing to improve the use of the machine. Make sure you test drive it first. I would have never bought it if I had. Plus, it is only 6 months old and already in for service for two major parts to be replaced. I am so unhappy with this machine.

this product is extremely powerful. you can feel the carpet rising when vacuuming slowly. the wand has alot of power too and the carpet attachment for it allows you to vacuum stairs and underneath low furniture like beds. the wand is long and feels akward at first, but you can pull it hard in any direction without tipping over the machine. the other attachments are helpful too. this was extremely expensive, but i was able to get it over labor day weekend and got a $120 gift card in return. it is difficult to compare vacuums across manufacturers. there is no suction coefficient or other stat available between all manufacturers. i was able to compare between dysons though with their product guide that the salesperson should have available.

We bought this because my husband just had to have one, he has expensive taste LOL, anyway i have fallen in love with it! I vacumed every day for a month when we first got it! It even picks up the glitter on my girl's floor! hard to clean the filters though and takes all day to dry

The Dyson is the best vacuum I have had. I highly recommend it. Why not spend a little more on a tool that you use in your home every single week. It is worth every penny.
