I want to hear from YOU...what do YOU think should be taught in the school system? I think every school should be required to go through Tobacco and Other Substance Abuse education as well as Internet Safety education. What about YOU?

Teach'm how to do Partial Differential equations.

If the math don't drive'm NUTS, they'll be all the better for persevering through it.

That which does not KILL your grades, will make you more smarter...

I think math and english/grammar.  It amazes me that kids these days cannot perform simple math and need a calculator for everything.  I hate going to the store and the cashier types the amount of cash wrong and can't figure out my change or when my total would be $45.51 and I give them $46.06 and they get confused and tell me I have them too much change!  I don't want pennies back, I'm trying to get rid of them.  I'm not perfect when it comes to grammar, we were never taught in my school, but I do know the difference between your and you're.  WhenI read customer letters and the spelling and grammar are horrible, I have a hard time reading the complaint.

Many great ideas.  Respect for one another would be great.

I remember, "Respect my authority!", well.

Although, there were no "rulers" to back anything up.

I sure remember " Respect my authority" as well.  My first nine years in school were in Catholic education!  It's a lot different now.

Kids need to pay attention and not be allowed to use their electronics at all in class, unless they relate to the class and what is on the agenda

Public schools these days do not teach meaning, only easy-to-test facts. Yes, Colombus sailed to the New World in 1492, but why? How did that affect history from that point on? History is one of my favorite subjects, because it really does repeat itself. Almost everything that happens has a corollary in the past. History is probably our most important subject. Meaning is the root of critical thinking, because instead of useless facts, you learn there is a reason for things to be as they are. Meaningless facts only teaches us to regurgitate dates, names and places, but not why they are important and in what context things happen in.

They should teach;

"Just say no."

"Trickle down economics."

"Good values. - like how to GET that A."

and;

"Ethics..."

Maybe a nice section on HUMOR?

Love them Dilbert comics.

I think kids should be taught about Drugs, Sex and Rock and Roll.

In that order.
