Not a Bad Unit

Got one of these for Christmas. The rating is primarily because I had a hard time reading the manual as it is in micro print, but using a magnifying glass helped. Other than the above initial problems, all else with this unit has performed well. Using MS Windows Media Player I set up a play list and... read full review »

Most Helpful Critical Review

Have had this player for nearly a year now and have had nothing but problems. Constantly freezes, turns itself off, can't delete songs, often have trouble even adding songs, won't even play songs at times. Have to turn it off and on several times to get it to start playing and that's when I can even...

What a Poor Device!

I received this as a gift and promptly returned it. I didn't even try to download anything onto it as the controls were virtually impossible to manage. When touching the left, right, and up, down arrows, it would often jump 2 or three places. I couldn't get the "Choose" button to work effectively. Then, the screen would go black before I could get to where I wanted to be! I couldn't tell whether it was charging, either. Do not waste your time and money on the Element!

eh maybe...

i totally bought this for my fiancee..... just a quick easy mp3 for while he was working out.   didn't want to go big, cause lets face it he loses them and breaks them ALL THE TIME....  =(     I was sad when i realized I HAD to have a SD card in it.... and it had to be a mini one... the ones i have don't fit it... it's easy to use.  it's kind of light weight so it feels kinda cheap and cheesy... but it'll do.  It's a really cool design and I like the whole "touch" thing it has going on.  I wouldn't say DONT BUY THIS but I would say if you want something really good.... pay the money. ...

No firmware update 3 years

The firmware for this mp3 player is the worst. If you look the only good reviews are by gift givers. It doesn't sort songs by Artist or album. you have to go through separate folders which means no "shuffle all" This is the worst software ever written and the programmers should not only be fired but tortured as well.

Save your money

I bought this thinking it was a good deal for the money,I couldn't have been more wrong. The instructions were very vague at best and the program for it would not load into my computer correctly. If you think you're getting a good deal think again, save your money and buy a better name brand instead.

mp4 by Element

I was excited to get this inorder to improve my daily workout. This mp4 stopped working effectively in less than 3 months. I would have to skip several songs to get to the ones I wanted. The volume feature no longer works well. DO NOT PURCHASE this mp4. The price may be attractive, but in the long run it gets ugly, useless and frustrating.

Good Product for Price

I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this MP4 player. However, I didn't want to spend a fortune on it as it was a gift for my niece. The music part of it is awesome and it hold a lot of songs. I guess it did take some time to cread the manual for the movie part but she figured it out and is happy with it. Now she watch videos and listen to songs. Even though it isn't mine I give it 5stars because if there were issues, believe me I would hear about it from my niece. Hope this helps.

Don't buy

I bought one of these players as a gift to myself from my family and it was a waste of money. It wouldn't even work right and I had to exchange it. On the original one my Windows media Player wouldn't even recognize it, and when I tried to copy and paste the files I kept getting an error message saying it couldn't locate the file. With the replacement the media player recognized it ONCE and even then only put 9 songs on it then said it was full. It has NO Digital Rights Media which means you can't put songs you BUY on it. I'm returning it tomorrow and upgrading to an SANSA for $20 more.

It will do for now

I got this for the price, and it was $39, i should have waited til payday and bought a real one. Two good things is that it has a SPEAKER so i can listen to it while i work with out getting tangled in headphones from moving too much. You can load you pictures into it. Bad. One the SD card slot is exposed so foreign particles can get into it if your not careful, for example pencil eraser residual from doing homework. It says it has a 4GB capacity but i feel that this statement is misleading as i am only able to load 131 songs and the device says its unable to load anymore. However after that i... read full review »

Not so bad after all...

Ok, so it took a week to work out the kinks. But after trial & error, got it to do everything it said it would.

Bought 5 of them for the whole family (had to return one because it had obvious damage to the casing; so it was no surprise that when it was plugged into PC, it had defective display).  So if you install the software, be sure to open up the media manager for it, it sets up the folders for you. (If it wouldn't do it on it's own).

I created my own extra folders for videos, photos, and text pages so it would be neat & organized. It reads all the folders perfectly fine. Then made subfolders...
