NordickTrack AudioStrider 990 Pro:

I ordered this machine from Sears.com(based on the fact that they had 2 in stock at the local sears store) a week before Christmas, and was guaranteed delivery and installation by December 31st. Needless to say, I had problems with arranging a time with sears 3rd party installation company to do the installation on the day my equipment was supposed to be delivered. Second, after sears called on the 30th to verify my delivery on the 31st dec, 2009. The next day no one show up and no one called. After calling on the 1st Jan, 2010, I was told that the equipment was not even shipped from the manufacturer. No I have to wait yet again for a new delivery and installation date. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY @#$@ AMAZING!!!! But then again, I should expect this and know better than to expect more, as it's a tradition from a company known as SEARS!!!!

Signed,

Disappointed Customer(As Usual)

sell a customer a product in this case a whiteglove assembly by others.... and when its not right its not the sellers issue.  How long is SHC going to do business with or sell business for those that do not perform?

No doubt there is a procedure and Im sure they get more than one chance but what are the parameters.  So, Customer to Customer2010  write the sears cares folks asap  they will tend to you better than saying your issues are elsewhere.

Hi there, customer2010-If you would like, baitedandswitched is correct, there is a terrific customer service escalation team who can look into this for you.  If you send me you name, email and phone number, I can have SearsCares contact you to help get this figured out.

B&S, afterwards I realized the problem was with Sears delivery , not Nordictracks White Glove Assembly team, so my response was inaccurate.

Edit: B&S (Baited & Switched) has changed screennames to Bocephendorpher.

Was the machine part of the two available from the nearby store?

Or, was the machine being shipped from the factory?

Customer2010, thanks for your comments. I'm looking to purchase this machine but with your results and headache, I rather go somewhere else. I totally forgot how Sears works in their delivery assistance. As I was a victim of theris when I ordered kitchen supply 3 years ago. I then sweared never to order from sears again. Yes, Sears continues to disapoint consumers, they are not better at the stores as well. I live in NJ and they person to person attention is not as professional. I tried to purchased a LCD TV around the beggining of December 2009 and I was totally turn away but theis sales representative at the store. Thanks, MC

We ordered the autostrider 990 pro directly from the nordictrack web page. We saved 90.00 in state taxes (LA), got it door stepped delivered for free, the three year basic extended warranty was 139.00 compared to Sears trying to sell it to us for 239.00 (same warranty), and in Dec they had a 75.00 off promotion code, so we ended up saving over 300.00 (100.00 on warranty, 90 on taxes, 65 for delivery, 75.00 off at the webpage). My husband and son are assembling it as I type.

and Sears wonders why they are going under. They have the worst service. My Elliptical broke yesterday it was a 12 year old nordictrack i bought when they first started making them and now I'm lost trying to find one. I can't afford the fancy $3200 ones but like above have narrowed it to the Nordictrack 990 and searched consumer reports and learned about the Sole brand so maybe between those two but one said Dick's sporting goods carry them but I have not bought from them in years over there return policy so search on I go....

Nordic Track Ellipticals can be a nightmare to DIY assemble.

There is a definite learning curve to assembling these machines and "winging" the installation instructions are almost guaranteed to not work well for "first-time" assemblers.

You also have to know "where" to put the supplied grease.

And, get those "wave washers" in there in the correct place and installed, with the other hardware in the right-order.

I did the work on customer returns and display units for about... 5 years.

Not fun!

But, an excellent machine. I own an older one (not iPod capable - I think).

Some people need to do some better research or otherwise becomes better informed before spouting off nonesense other people might actually believe...

First, beckygardens. You don't know what you're talking about with the warranties. Our 3 year on that would be $184.99 since it is under $1000. Our 5 year would be $274.99 if I recall. Their 3 year BASIC extended warranty is just that, an extension of the manufacturer warranty. Their Premier Package includes a yearly preventative maintenance check. THAT is the one we offer. Hope you don't think that basic coverage you purchased includes the yearly check... you're going to be dissapointed when you call NT.

And lambrok... what exactly do you mean. "and Sears wonders why they are going under." We have the worst service because your 12 year old machine broke down? Really? How often did you perform the regular maintenance on your machine? Even if you did it yearly I would say 12 years for a machine that you RUN ON is pretty good. Is it our fault you are lost trying to find a new one? Have you gone in to any stores and talked to anyone? Or simply wandered around the internet, leaving comments on people's websites? That's not really the most productive way to find what you want. Perhaps you can find a few models you are looking at and I can share some insight with you?

First off I did not blame Sears for my 12 yr. old Nordictrack for breaking. I blame myself for not staying on it in the first place and gaining weight and keep putting a strain on it.

Now for Sears service dept. I have no luck with them, I had a treadmill I bought several years ago and had a serive contract on it and started having troubles with it and they came and one time with parts that did not work and just left them and said they would have to order a differant part and once again come back and long story short it never was right after that I gave up and gave it away to someone who served their purpose it would not get up to speed. Next I had a washing machine not a cheap one either and I will make it short, it had trouble after a year maybe close to two years nad had service contract and out they come and once again they had to come out serveral times I even called the store manager and promised he would send the top tech this time and he showed up and said it supposed to make that clicking noise when it changed cycles or whatever it does anyway a short time later it dies and to this day I wish I would have taken it and dropped it off at there back door and saying, here is that washer that had no problems it was a $700 washer. Anyway I went else where and got a Whirlpool front loader and have been very happy with it and no problems. Now that was what I was talking about when I talked about there service from those examples I have had. And you speek of Sears prices of their service contracts. They are much higher than others, I got a 4 year on my whirlpool for $99. Also for the dryer.

And one other thing I do not get where you are coming from that I said it's our fault I'm lost trying to find a new one. I did not blame anyone. The only thing  is there is so many differant machines now than 12 yreas ago it's like buying a car looking and trying to do research. And yes I have been to stores and talked to people and believe it or not when I get through with this I am going to SEARS and look at a nordictrack and measure. I have read reviews and looked and the two that are on my list are the Nordictrack audiostrider 990 and the Sole brand. I found the Sole on sears web site and do offer special financing offers so who knows I may give them an other chance. I have learned never say never. I do still shop at sears and bought a lcd 46 in.TV 3 yrs ago from them because an offer I could not refuse and have had no trouble with it and I do have a five year service contract on it room does not permit to rtell how I got the five year deal.  So who knows I may give them another chance with the Ellipticals. I have also been to a couple specialty stores that sell the upper end stuff but can't go the $3000 range.

Anyway I'm sharing the brands that I have looked into that seem to have the better ratings and everything I have seen on the Sole E35 has been 5 star and the Audiostrider 990 seam good. But think the Sole my be easier to put together.

Hope I have cleared some things up here.

So...

ONE DAY later, after the unit gave 12 years of service, you're ready to buy a NEW elliptical?

What broke?

Did you even contact service?

And, for Nordic Track machines, that would NOT be Sears Service, but a 3rd party local Nordic Track authorized service organization.

"and Sears wonders why they are going under. They have the worst service. My Elliptical broke yesterday it was a 12 year old nordictrack i bought when they first started making them and now I'm lost trying to find one."

That's what made me respond the way I did. You made it sound like Sears was the root cause of the elliptical. You made no mention of your other products at that time.

I don't think you could go wrong with either brand between Sole and NT though. My best advice would be to try them both though, if at all possible. Comfort on an elliptical is always the most important thing.

The only thing I really have to respond to is the cheaper service contracts from other places... That's because you don't get the same thing. I've worked on the Lowe's delivery team when we went and picked up a washer, dropped it off at a local repair shop, and then picked it back up 2 weeks later and returned it to the customer. In my experience that's what a $99 4 year plan gets you.
