This was a Christmas gift for our 7 year old daughter and she loves it! So do we! We have had many fun family nights singing on this. Depending on the karaoke track, we may have to adjust the mic versus song balance. It's lightweight and for the price, it has a lot more bells and whistles than I anticipated....

Pros:
* Worked right out of the box.
Cons:
* The knobs feel and look cheap.
* The "ipod compatible" is just a plastic holder for the ipod. An ipod a/v cable to connect it to the system is provided.
* does not play CD+/-R disks which is kind of a pain
* the included microphone is not sensitive enough.....

We bought this for my daughter for christmas last year. She was able to use it once. Since then it will not power up at all. We're buying a new one for her this christmas but will definately NOT get an Emerson.
This is a great system for kids. My 8 yr old granddaughter is a ham anyway,and this was just the thing for her. No, the microphone is not loud enough, but this is not supposed to be a professional system. I have a professional system. She's having ball! That's what counts. I originally went to the store to purchase it after Thanksgiving, of course it was gone. I was able to purchase it online for the same sale price as in the store. Very pleased w/everything!
We bought this for our daughter and she definately likes it. She did complain about the microphone volume though. She says it's not loud enough. You can't hear yourself over the music. She also wishes that the words would turn a different color when you're suppose to say them instead of just disappear. Overall I think for a child this is decent for the price and quality.
The CD player stopped working after the first day. Sears issued a call tag and it has been sent back. We will have to see how the replacement does.
We have not tried the iPod functionality yet. It might come in handy if the CD player breaks after the warranty period is over.
We purchased this item for our 9 year old and right out of the box on Christmas it didn't work. I would not buy this item again. It is cheaply made. It is like there is a electrical connection loose inside for the CD player. It comes on but that is all.
My 7 year old got this for Christmas. She loves it and so far it works great. No problems.
3-4 stars - my two young girls (8 & 9) love it and for the price at Christmas ($49), it is as good or better than the $100 + ones I've seen.
I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY KIDS FOR CHRISTMAS. MY SON IS 8 AND MY DAUGHTER IS 4, THEY LOVE IT! SO FAR THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. MY 4 YEAR OLD IS ABLE TO OPERATE THE SYSTEM BY HERSELF. WE ALSO BOUGHT THE EXTRA MICROPHONE SO THEY CAN SING TOGETHER. IT IS ALOT OF FUN FOR THE FAMILY.
We got this for our daughter this past Christmas, and she loves it. Not only her, but her friends, and us also. It has had no problems, and was extremely easy to set up. The attachable cord for the ipod makes it so simple and fun also. The microphone works extremely well and LOUD. Since the machine has a place for 2 mics., I ended up getting a 2nd one so that we can sing duets. I wuld definitely go with this system, and for the price, you can't beat it. Trust me, you'll love it.
